There's likely a conflict or a bad driver causing that. Make sure you've updated all your drivers and firmware, and that you've not got any nasty notices by anything in the my computer device manager.

still seems that if it happens randomly to be most likely a memory problem try taking one stick out and seeing if it still does it
could be something overheating and breaking down so try playing a game and making the pc work a bit harder in an effort to encourage it to happen
also check for dust and fluff in your heatsinks

Still playing Black Hawk Down why did I upgrade?

Download Hmonitor to see what temps your system is running at. I doubt that's the problem, but you never know. CPU should be below 60C(140F), Mobo and HDDs below 40C(104F) and voltages should be within 10% of what they are (i.e. 12V is 10.8-13.2 and 5V is 4.5-5.5 etc.)
I'd also recommend trying combinations of memory chips if you have more than one, if not, then obviously if that turns out to be problem you'll need to buy more RAM, but we don't know yet.
As for drivers, visit the websites of the makers of your:
Graphics Card
Peripherals (Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick etc.)
CD/DVD drives
any USB devices
and download the latest software for whatever of theirs you have - may require a few restarts, so be patient. I often click "no" or "cancel" until I've done them all then reboot, to save time.
If after all this you still have problems let us know.

Well, the fact that it occurs in gaming means it's a load stress problem. Helps, but we still have some options left (I think we might ignore heat if the PC's clean)
Either you have a RAM problem where only some is bad (so once you reach that bad memory the problem occurs) - but this would suggest it happens soon after you start the game.
Or, we have our little driver issue (quite plausible, and check in device manager for any conflicts, they can be horrors).

Ah, you should have mentioned that before. That probably means there's a graphics malfunction. Try getting nVidia's latest software, and if that doesn't fix it you may need to return the card.

Are you sure? I didn't know such a thing existed, I suppose it could since there was a 5700XT. Erm, download one suitable for the "5200 series". That should do you fine.

I think the "GeForce" applies to all but the Go7800GTX (which obviously must need another driver to keep power down). Go for GeForce/TNT2 and tell me the result.

If you've removed the old software, installed the new software and restarted, you should be ready to go.

nvidia drivers are currently all compatible except the 7800gtx so you will only find the one suitable driver, pick the geforce one
