need a lot more information than that to help you.
1. what media did you use (brand, type, speed) (TDK 8X DVD-R)
2. what program did you burn with and at what speed
3. do you have other back ups on this same media burned the same way that do work?
4. what boot method do you use to load back ups
and so on, give as much total information as you can.

i can tell you that Memorex are the worst, and 16X are not that great either. A better quality DVD-R 8X speed would be a better choice. Even if some do work the cheap dye on a cheap DVD like that is going to do 2 things.
1. it will stress your laser and may cause it to burn out prematurly
2. the game dy will wear out over time and your back ups will stop working. Usually about 2-3yrs time.
on a 16X DVD 2X may be way to slow. Try doing one at 4X and one at 8X. I would never reccomend 8X on any other speed media but the rule of thumb is to burn them at half the speed that he disc is rated at.

with a modchip you can rule out the normal problems people using swap magic have, like the game has dummy files, needs to be patched, needs to be rebuilt and all that garbage.
