I ordered 4x ty dvd-r's from supermediastore and they came in today. They sent me TYG03's which seems to be 16x.
Is there any special thing I have to do to make backups on these?
I have tried multiple times in using them burning at multiple speeds(4x, 8x, 16x in nero, also with dvd decrypter), none of which load correctly. My burner is a BENQ dw1620 with the latest firmware and I have Swap Magic 3.8 Coder with a slide card. What could I be doing wrong?
Games tried:
(ive downloaded these iso's off torrents)
Katamari Damacy NTSC
Gran Turismo 4 NTSC DVD5
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix NTSC DVD5
Tomb Raider: Legend PAL
If you could help, I would be so greatful. ^_^

So many people having probs with the 16X.
Always get the 8X they are cheaper and better, TYG02 I believe.

Is there any other options? As I said, I ordered 4x, and for some reason they shipped me 16x. I can't afford to try to buy more.

ToxicWind the TYGO1s 4x are off the market you are going to get either TYGO2s 8x or TYGO3s 16X ,have you tried burning at 2.4x ? i dont think its a media problem sounds like a software issue backing them up .have you backed up games before? iam sure supermediastore would take tham back call and get a RMA number

The TY value media coded as TYG03 from sms works just fine for me for backing up ps2 games, burned at 4x. The TY value media is from batches that don't meet the QC for their regular lines of 8x and 16x media, so you never know if you're gonna get TYG02 or TYG03. So it could be that you got a particularly bad batch, though I've burned a lot (mostly dvds, but several PS2 games that have played all the way through without issue). So maybe try a couple from the bottom of the stack. And of course, do the usual, like defrag your HD; shutdown and let your pc cool before turning it back on then close all background programs, and don't use your pc while you burn the disks. etc

This is my first time backing up games, so its most likely my problem doing this. I'll try burning again, when I get home.
What exactly is wopc? And what problem could that be causing?

Anyone have any idea? Long loads I can handle, but I would like to get rid of them if I could.

It's most likely an issue with the laser on your PS2. I've never had an issue with mine, so I don't know the procedure for getting it recalibrated or replaced. But the first thing you should try is gently wiping the laser with something soft like a eye glass cloth. If that doesn't help things, look into recalibrating/replacing your laser.

Just so you know, load times will always be longer with a burned game then the original pressed game. Sometimes the difference is unnoticable, sometimes it can be quite annoying. But an issue with the laser can definitely exacerbate the issue.
