Hey all,
lately all my backups of ps2 games dont seem to be working.
Some boot the playstation two logo, then go black, and some just show a black screen.
i use dvd-decryptor mainly and princo or sony dvds.
funny thing is that it used to work.
ive been trying to backup matrix path of neo and ssx on tour, but they dont seem to work. i got fed up and thought it was my reader so i downloaded the ssx on tour iso and that didnt work either.
im at my wits end lol.
ive tried two computers so far and no luck. any ideas? i burn at 2X btw.
i just cant see where the problem is.
Cheers, any help will be appreciated.

Try cleaning the laser, Princo discs are not at the high end of the market, try to use better media (like taiyo yuden, verbatim or similar) sony Made in Japan disc are good media.
make sure your firmware is up to date

thanks dude, but the lasers clean and the problem occurs in my brothers brand new ps2 so i doubt thats it. im updating the firmware now, but i was just thinking is there some sort of new copy protection on newer games that make them harder to burn? could that be it? coz a lot of people seem to be having problems

it is not a copy protection problem or it wouldn't let you back it up in the first place.
it is probably the media if firmware doesn't resolve it. are you using dvd+ or dvd- ?

dvd-r is best to use for ps2's so that is all good. as for the princo's - i would definatley get a better brand of media, a lot of the cheaper media will give burn/read errors and a lot of cheap media does not last very long after 6-12 months it is useless. try some taiyo yuden or verbatim discs as i & many others highly recommend them & i have had 100's of successful burns using them.
try them & see if it solves all your problems. (i think it will)
let me know the results.
BTW what country are you in? if in USA & have a local best buy store they have verbatim DVD-R on sale (until sun i think) - 50 for $15.
good luck
