I purchased a new Dell laptop computer with Windows XP Media Center Operating System. Will DVD Shrink work with Windows XP Media Center OS? Thanks LCP.

Hi,

What exactly are you trying to do as media center is a dvd/music/radio/ live tv application vs. dvd shrink which is used to compress dvd compliant files to fit onto a dvd-5 blank media.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

The answer to your question is yes. specifically DVD Shrink will work on your system but not together with windows media center. See the guides tab at the top of the page and check the 1st link in my signature for guides that you cann print out and reference. the link in my sig will also give guidance on backing up some of your newer movies as DVD Shrink is no longer updated and cannot handle the latest encryption methods.

Thanks but when I go to the link "software" I see:
- DVDFAB Decrypter
- DVD Decrypter
- Any DVD
- Clone DVD2
Which ones replace DVDSHRINK and how do you use them? LCP

Hi,

There is a guide link in the tab http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm. Dvdfab decrypter is freeware which can rip some of the latest releases with encryption that DVD Shrink can no longer bypass. DVD Decrypter can rip older movies with early versions of protection..also rips in iso, ifo, and file mode. AnyDVD and clonedvd2 are supported by the same company and there is a 21 day free trial for both. AnyDVD is a driver that works in the backgroundto circumvent encryption so you can backup the dvds you own. CloneDVD has the features of DVD Shrink as faras compressionanda few other things. The last 2 I mentioned are offered with a discount (see homepage on Afterdawn); once purchased the updates are free for lifetime.
