I use to use Nero Express 2,but it stoped working, and now I have Easy Media Creator 8. I still have the same problem that my videos take up so much space. On Express they use not to, but then they all of the sudden did. Same thing is happening on this program. A 700 MB will take up over 6GB of space, with no extra menus or chapters, nothing. It takes up over 5 times as much space. (even on the lowest quality) Why is that? What program, maybe Nero won't do this. An actual 700 MB file takes up a usual amount, do you guys know what is wrong and what I can do. I have all the newest updaters etc...
Thanks

first of all Nero and Roxio does not mix......I would uninstall Roxio all togehter and try to update your Nero! Nero is a much better program anyway!get the Roxio Zapper: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

the latest version of Nero Experss is 7.2.0.3.......

I just want to add a video file that I downloaded that is 700MB to a DVD. I use to be able to put 3 to a DVD now I can't. No program allows me to do it. The old Nero Express 2 or the New Media Creator 8 that I just bought. 700 MB either in mpg or mpeg or AVI all take up 5 times the amount of space, even if it's the lowest quality. Why is that? It just stopped working, is there a program or patch or somthing that will help, I mean it doesn't seem right.

Dear Peppers,

First of all, IHoe has been giving some sound advice 'cos lots of people have experienced problems with Roxio and Nero installed at the same time.

Back to your problem, if you have taken good care of your pc (e.g. defrag often, compatible codecs), you may try use another program (e.g. VSO ConvertXtoDVD, DVDSanta) to encode the videos to see if it's better, and we'll take it from there.

Good luck!

So are you saying I have to convert my files to another file so it doesn't take up as much space. I don't know why you can only put about a couple hundred MB of raw video and that's it. I mean how do people make DVD's of their trips on their camcorders and all? I know they're bigger than a couple hundred MB.

It has been my experience that an AVI file of around 700mb after conversion is equal to a normal movie of around 2 hours, somewhere around the 2.5g mark. I have managed to convert 3 hour video tapes to fit to a standard DVD5.

Well then why is it when I put a 2 hour clip that is 700 MB it takes up 6 gigs on a video DVD. Not the 2.5 or the 1.3 or so I use to get on the old program before it stopped working.
