I've been using Prassi PrimoDVD to record DVD-R movies & data discs. Recently I installed Gear Pro in order to test some other software; I also installed the NET framework on my Win2k platform.

Now, when burning any DVD's, even data only DVD's, it seems to burn fine, but at the end of the burn it hangs and just has the message "Waiting for drive to be unloaded". If I abort the burn, it seems as though the disc has burned fine, but still I would like to know why it's doing this. Also, I have not tried burning a movie since this has been an issue, and I wonder if there would be problems in a standalone player because of it not finishing some part of the process.

I searched & found this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/26343 but there it is recommended to upgrade the software, whereas I am not even using that software (and I don't think there's any newer version anyway).

I uninstalled the Gear software, thinking that it may have been the source of the problem, to no effect; but I don't know if it has left behind something, or whether some setting was changed during the install of it, that wasn't returned to its original state, or whether the problem has nothing to do with Gear.

I'm using a Pioneer DVR-105.

Thanks.

Get the new firmware upgrade for your burner. trust me on this one, fixed all kinds of problems I had with the first fw upgrade.

It's one of the options, you can have it pop the drawer open or not.
If you choose not to it looks like it hasn't burnt properly but in fact it has.

lol thx... it was driving me crazy. yeah, i turned it off because i don't like the tray opening up, it gets dust etc in it, and also my cat jumps around and might fall on it and break it off.

thanks again, that's a load off my mind :)
