Bypass iTunes & transfer mp3 to ipod.

Is there any way to transfer mp3's directly to the ipod w/o ripping to iTunes first? I get magazines in mp3 format on cd & would like to be able to transfer directly to ipod. This saves me the time of ripping & subsequently deleting from my computer after I listen to them. Naturally I only want to listen to them once.
