files will not add to Itunes Library, supposedly mp3 files are wrong format?

I have not been able to get my folder of classic mixtapes to load up into Itunes for a month or so now. They are labeled .mp3 but when I decided to try to burn them individually and re-rip them, hoping they'd somehow come out able to burn, this message showed up in Nero:

They are all labeled.mp3 but for some reason they are not listed as being correct format.

I guess I can try to encode them, but if that fails, I don't know what the hell to do. These are about a gig worth of mixtapes from the mid 90's (Spinbad, Ron G, Clue, Clark Kent, Etc).

Any ideas?
