I decided to change the memory timing in my gamer to the aggressive setting figuring it could handle a preset setting. Nope...Now the system will not boot. My monitor won't even detect the video card or the onboard video either. I've tried reseting the bios to default(pin method & battery method) The back fan comes on full speed and stays on(usually slows to a whisper after boot) and the light in the front comes on for a few then turns off all while the monitor says there is no input. What should I do? Please someone help !!

Looks like the bios has just not accepted the reset.
What board are you using, and are you sure you moved the jumper over correctly?

No I'm not sure if I did it correctly. How would you go about doing it? The motherboard is from a Gateway GR550.

If your not 100% sure where the jumper is, just unplug the pc and then remove the battery from the motherboard.
Leave it off for a minute before putting it back on, make sure you see what way up it goes before removing it.
page 56-57 of this manual, couldn't find exact model on their website.

I may not have waited long enough for the default settings to take effect. I will try again after I get home from work and let you know if it worked. Thanks

Thanks Alot BigDK !! It worked, I guess I wasn't giving it enough time to go back to default. Can you or anyone here direct me to a good forum on how to change memory timing and what each number means? Thanks Again!

What memory modules are you using, make and model.
The quality and speed of the memory will determine what you can push it to.

Don't laugh now... Elixer pc3200 ddr 400 2x512 BUT(big but) I just ordered some CORSAIR XMS Twinx2048-3200c2pt 2x1g from newegg. Thats what got me messing around with the timing. I wanted to see what I was gonna be getting into because most of the reviews for that memory state you may have to manually set the timing. Then ofcourse I had to try and see what the memory I have would do. I've been interested for some time about overclocking my cpu but never tried until now. Anything you think I should look out for?

I'm not sure what bios options are available on the mobo you're using.
That RAM should have a CAS of 3, not sure about the other timings.
If yoy start to overclock the cpu then you will start overclocking the ram as well, unless you can start adjusting ratios etc...
Best to get yourself a copy of memtest86 and superpi or prime95 to run on the machine afterwards.
These will show if the system is actually stable once your able to post with it.

Hey BigDK thanks again for all your help. I recieved my new corsair xms platinum pc3200 2x1024 memory. New problem now - the system won't boot when I installed the new ram. Do I have a bad stick? It won't let me even attempt to boot the system. Should I try one stick at a time to see which is giving me problems or will that cause more system problems? Or should I contact newegg to have them replace them? Also, That link that you posted about memory was very helpful.
