Hey all, I am a newbie and just downloaded DVDFab Decrypter. However, it is running very, very slow. I have read a few threads and have checked my Primary and Secondary IDE Channels.
My Primary Channel is set to:
Transfer Mode: DMA if available
Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 5
My Secondary Channel is set to
Transfer Mode: DMA if avialable
Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 2

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am trying to decrypt Walk the Line
Thanks

@rka
Try cleaning off the disc - dirty/scratched discs can slow the ripping down. If the disc is too bad you'll end up getting a CRC/read error.
Make sure your not multitasking and shut down any unnecessary processes.
How slow is slow?

Try AnyDVD or for freeware DVD43 was also surprisingly updated. This was one of my favorite freeware programs before I got hip to AnyDVD.:p

rka...

What Anti-virus software do you use? I had the same problem with DVD Decrypter while using McAfee! Also, your firewall may cause a major slowdown. I switched to Norton and the problem went away. I can decrypt anything well within 2 hours now under XP with a Pentium IV using 1GB RAM.

Still, ocasionally, Norton would go to "Live Update" and slow everything to a crawl during their automatic download.

I ended up setting up an old Pentium III PC (650 Mhz processor w/256MB RAM) and WinME (Ugh, I hate it, but it works better than XP when it ain't crashin') and I can rip most DVDs within an hour. The catch is that I don't run ANY background programs (including Anti-Virus) and the machine in question is not on the WEB. It is strictly dedicated to backing up my DVDs so I can carry them on the road and not risk loosing the originals.

My 2 cents...

I can not tell the exact cause of your problem. But basically yeah if you have your firewall, antivirus, and everything else running you are going to get slow speeds. What are your pc specs? What speed can your drive read the disc? If you have a plextor drive have you unlocked it using the plextools software? And another possible reason it is so slow. DVDFab Decrypter rips the entire movie So where as on a decent system with DVD Decrypter set to "Main Movie Only" the system could rip a dvd in 15-20 minutes usually.

Quick update

1) Trying to burn memoirs of a geisha

2) I went through msconfig and disabled all unnecessary programs (or atleast the ones I thought to be unnecessary)

3) Before attempting to decrypt I turned off my firewall and all anti-virus software

4) I have upwards of 50 processes running in the background but have no idea which are necessary and which are not

Still no luck
This stinks
Thanks for your help

Im no expert on running processes by any means but could this be a hijacked PC? I mean 50 processes with nothing running in the system tray. That would explain his/her horribe ripping speed, it would/could be because the spyware and stuff could be hogging resources. Anybody think this could be it?? If so rka please post a HijackThis log if what I have mentioned is deemed your problem.
