Hi, well my problem is basically as is. Ive had this computer for a little over a year and i recently bought a new hard drive and ever since installing this hd, my computer just randomly restarts on its own and it does it alot. When i had this computer running on a different hd it ran fine with no problems. Could it be a hard drive problem causing this? The new hard drive is a Maxtor 200gb. I'm just completely oblivious as to what the problem is or could be. My other guess was possibly my power supply not being able to handle the new hard drive and i thought about buying a new psu but i thought i would post here to get some helpful input before i spend any more money. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Is this new hard drive an addition to the old one or a replacement?
If your using it as a secondary drive try unplugging the ide cable from it and see if the problem still exists.
I had a Maxtor drive that caused the same symptoms...it turned out to be faulty and I returned it to them for a replacement, they sent me a brand new one in exchange.

Best of luck.

The new hard drive was a replacement for the old one. It is now the only hard drive in the computer

It is possible that the psu is going bad but I would wager on the hard drive or the installation of your operating system being buggered.Do you still have the original drive? Have you tried to reinstall your o.s.?
You may first want to check the cable going to your hard drive, make sure it is securely plugged into both the drive and mother board, maybe even change it...if you have a spare.
Try that first and post back.
