TSSTCorp TS-L532B Data DVD Burn issues

Greetings!

Experiencing some issues with burning Data DVDs succesfully.

Hardware:
Dell Latitude 820 Laptop
Windows XP Professional w/ Media
TSSTCorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B

Software:
Unit shipped with Roxio Sonic.
Uninstalled Roxio and installed Nero 7.2 demo version

Media:
Maxell DVD+R

Issue:
I have several folders of data on my HD that I wish to copy to DVD. When using Roxio initially, I was unable to successfully complete the task. After uninstalling Roxio and using Nero, the disc burns successfully but upon verificaiton I find several bad sectors and this disc is unreadable in any machine.

Background:
The machine is 2 weeks old and according to posts on some other forum I came across, requires (and is using I think) Dell-specific firmware that I believe to be the latest version. I have varied the speeds and viewed several threads/solutions on this board already but nothing seems to work. The log file is below. I am going to grab some different discs on the way home and see if that helps any. Should I be on the lookout for anything else?

Welcome to aD!
From what I can find your firmware is up to date + your drive fully recognizes the discs. The problem may be that the discs are made by Ritek which is okay. Not always the best.
Look for the made in Japan Maxell. Other good media to use would be Verbatim and made in Japan Fuji or Sony.
Nothing else really worng in the log.
Hopefully those new discs you pick up will do the trick!

thanks for the info!

i actual grabbed a spindle of sony DVD+RW and everything worked fine. i guess it was a media issue. should i expect any problems if simply using DVD+R as opposed to DVD+RW?

I rarely use rw discs. The + or - r's are so much cheaper & can be burned faster. I would think less problems w/ the +r's. Erasing and trying to write again on rw's is more of an issue at times.
If your in the US - Best Buy, Staples etc. are always running weekly sales on good media - 14.99 for 50 usually.
I buy at http://supermediastore.com. They also have good sales on Verbatims and my personal fav's and great media too - Taiyo Yuden.
