I live in Canada, and my ISP is Rogers Cable. I used to be a regular bittorrent user, and my internet connection was supposedly 5.0 Mbps download and 384 Kbps upload. I started to connect more computers to my router, thus i needed a faster internet.. so i upgraded to Rogers Extreme which is supposedly 6.0 Mbps download and 800 Kbps upload.
Here is the issue, i used to download alot using bittorent and i used to get speeds between 50-200 on MOST of my downloads. When i upgraded i changed my modem but my router settins and everything else stayed the same.. The problem is that MOST of my downloads now go at .1-5 which is amazingly lower compared to my old internet (from the same company) and was much slower.
I port forwarded, im using utorrent, and ive read most of the guides and attempted to do everything they told me to do.. but it doesnt work.. my download speeds are much lower. I researched and ppl claim that my ISP is anti-bittorrent and that i have to use a certain port (1720) on my ISP, and when i changed to this port my internet speeds increased but they only increased to 10-50 which is still MUCH slower than my old slower internet...
Some wierd facts about my internet is that when I DL from programs such as Ares or Kazza i get speeds at like 400-1000 in seconds, and when i download from direct sources i usually get 1000-3000 speeds... so wats wrong with my internet!!!!?!??!
If someone can plz help me with my problem ild really appreciate it.
O and my router is SMC7004VBR.
