my old ps2 fat wont read some games at all. i tried adjusting the white cog and same thing.does it need a new lazer.were could i get one .could someone post a link < or is ps2 just junk.

Did you try adjusting the small screw thats next to the laser, on the left guiderail? Only adjust in small amounts at a time, one way or the other. You're also better to mark its starting position relative to the guiderail so you know where you started off.

Also, try cleaning the lens with a DVD Laser Lens cleaning disc.

If neither works, then you probably do need a new laser, but to be honest, with a laser costing £30 ($51), and a 2nd hand fat PS2 at about £50 ($85), you'd be better off just getting a 2nd hand PS2

you mean the screw next to the laser will move the laser on its track either forward or backwards?
