HI i just purchased some verbatim DVD-R disks they are the 16x disks. Before purchasing these disks i have backed up my games using Philips disks, i did not have a very good success rate and so i decided to buy these. I decided to back up Kingdom hearts 2 so at first i burnt the game at 8X it finished i put the swap magic disk in then the back up game and it said invalid ps2 game, i was like what i thought these where some of the best disks, so i then thought maybe because i burnt it at 6X that what was the problem so i decided to back up tomb raider legends and burnt at 4X this time however when i put the game in my ps2 the disk came up invalid ps2 disk, so i restarted swap magic and inserted the game and the red border appeared, but the tv screen just stayed blank. Iam using a liteon dvdr burner with the latest firmware, i have only be succesfull in backing up Kingdom Hearts, Megaman x7, Outrun coast to coast and resident evil 4 and these have all been with my philips dvd-r media, please can you help me and tell me what is wrong, i live in the uk so can someone tell me what the best media is in this country and where i can buy them from.

I think it may be the 16x media. A handful of people have reported problems with the 16x games. Have you tried them on a friend's machine?

This is why you should never go for 16x media:

Conclusion
Even though they are made by the same brand 16x media will never be as good quality as 8x media simply because of modern write strategies and the fact that theres always going to be something substituted for the increased burn speed.
