I've read, read, and then read some more.
I'm using Swap Magic 3.6. I'm ripping/burning using DVD decrypter. I've tried burning using sony +R's(8x), fujifilm +R's and -R's(16x). I've set booktype to dvd-rom on the +R's. Swap Magic loads fine, when I swap a back-up my PS2 just clicks and grinds. My geniune games boot fine. I'm burning on the slowest speed I can(6x). My burner is a LiteOn SHW-1635S YS0X, region free.

Whats the media ID of you fujifilm's? Could be a media issue. And ps2's dont like 16x discs. Are you using a fliptop or slidecard? if slidecard make sure you both opening and closing the drive tray with it. You should be able to burn slower than 6x, 4x is the ideal speed.

Might wanna try updating the firmware of your burner, that might give you the option of burning slower. 6x is a bit high for the slowest speed, although burn speed is dictated by the media, most do support 2x & 4x at least.

some models of ps2's are just picky, for instance my last silver schp-50003 ps2 wouldent run allot of backups even Taiyo Yuden and sony and it did exactly what your describing despite running all origional games faultlessly.

so i had to go out and get a new ps2 and now everything works fine. it seems when the ps2 laser starts to wear out DVD-/+ r's and often Ps1/CD games are the first to stop working, and the lense makes a mad clicking grinding noise as it keeps trying to re read the disk. try giving your lense a clean then try again.... i should also note that on my old ps2 TDK DVD-R 8x dvd's with lead in TTG02 where the only ones that worked for me,and i systematicaly tryed every Grade A meedia near enough. and it was also the case with my friend's ps2 who had the same problem.

there is also the option of recalibrating your ps2 lense by manipulating the "pits" altho this involves opening your ps2 and its quite tricky and having never done it myself so i cant really give advice on that option.

Below is my drive and fujifilm disc information. I did update my drive firmware recently but the minimum is still 6x. Should I update with a different firmware? If so, which firmware?
Thanks

I'd suggest changing to -R. Every PS2 can read from -R, but some have issues with +R. Its the same with RW's. Some can read them, and some, like mine, can't.

I'm using a Big PS2. Version 9 I believe.
I threw away the DVD-R wrappers so I don't know if they're japan/taiwan.
What's a good site for adjusting the lazer?

p.s.I'd like to be able to burn at 4x but I can't find the proper firmware.

and i would get some dvd+r sony made in japan on the wrapper.

and i know most people will dissagree but playo disks work fine also
there junk for dvd but i have used some for games and work fine there better than cmag....and there cheap too.
