If I have a slim ps2, latest modbo chip, and the new AR Max v3.2 will I still need a tool(slide tool, ghost ....etc) to play backups with codes in place?

No, you only need those tools when you use swap magic

no, that is what the chip is for.
so you do not need a slimtool/Ghost Switch/Magic Switch
or Swap Magic discs.

Well that's exactly what I have but I'm can't seem to load the games after the insert game screen on the AR Max(but I just don't know if the one I have is the AR Max v3.2) How do you know if you have the 3.2, does it say it on the box? I bought mine about 7 months ago, when did v3.2 come out?

it is most likely the fact that the cheap Modbo chip doesn't have support for cheat disc like the better chips do. I have heard that before about the Modbo and people not being able to get AR Max to work with it.
I read up on both the Modbo 3.0 and 4.0 and neither one mention having any cheat disc support. http://www.modbo.com/
