DVD Decrypter Read Speed

What's up. I have been using DVD Decrypter to backup ps2 games (with help from the guides on this site) A lot of threads talk about the writing speed, but does the reading speed matter? It takes me about and hour to read a ps2 game (i've seen threads where some do it in half the time) I understand the rule of thumb for writing, just trying to get some help on the reading speed.

Reading speed never made a difference for my back ups.
Only the writing speed. The writing speed is very important. Burn at 2X if possible but 4X is ok. If you burn at higher speeds the back up will not work properly, game is slow to load.

the reading speed just usually depends on your dvd drives capability but will not make much of a difference to how the game will work on your ps2
