I would suggest you go to the slysoft site and download AnyDVD and CloneDVD, both free trial for 21 days.
AnyDVD will remove any copy protection whereas CloneDVD will back up your DVD.
Both a very simple progs to use,CloneDVD is a 3 click prog and AnyDVD just runs in the background.
You can find guides on their use from bbmayo link in my sig.
You mentioned you have Nero, if you have Nero Recode then you can use it to back up your DVDs, just have AnyDVD running at the same time to remove copy protection and let Recode do the rest

If you want to go the free way, look to see of you have recode 2. It is in your startsmart if you have it. Once you rip with DVD Fab, run through your recode 2. You have the option for full movie, movie only feature(which I use exclusively) or remake a dvd.
Some newer movies may not compress correctly so you have to run through VOB blanker as described in Alkohol's guide.
If you want one click software, buy AnyDVD and clone dvd as Gwendolyn suggested. I personally like the free part myself!!
I have never had any problems with dvd fab, DVD Shrink, VOB blanker or nero's recode.
With these free applications, you can be done in under an hour. All depending on what you want to keep from your DVD. As stated earlier, I use the Movie Only featurein Recode 2, 95% of the time.

It might be a little easier to give you some advice if you tell us which programs you currently have installed, otherwise we may be telling you too much and confuse you further, Cheers

You could try using DVDShrink, it will compress the movie to fit, check out the guides by bbmayo, which are in my sig.

Ok after ripping with DVD Fab if that is what you used, go into DVD Shrink and click on open files and find your Video-TS file that fab created. I'm not sure where you had them ripped to but find them and open with shrink. It will then analize the movie for 1 minute or so.
Once you have done that edit your audio's, extra's or whatever you want to keep. I use the still image option for extras or trailors I don't want. Alot of people on here use VOB Blanker for blanking out unwanted scenes/trailors/extras.....
Once you have done that, follow this link I have posted. Scuba Pete was the first guide I used. Just scroll down to the shrink settings and instructions and that should help you get there.
Use this guide for your Shrink/Nero burning.

If you are looking for an extremely easy way to backup your dvds, and are willing to make a small investment, try slysoft AnyDVD and clonedvd2. I use them both and never had any trouble. Cheers :D
