I have a ver.7 nero that came with a DVD burner.

I ripped as mpgegs, 2 cd's of music to my PC.

Now I can't rip mp3's at all. The "enable mp3Pro" is permanently blanked out and unclickable.

I know it was supposed to be a trial version...but I should have got 29 goes at it...I only got 2!

Anyone know how I can enable it?

I can't even find mp3Pro in program files.

thanks

If your Nero7 came with your burner then it would NOT or should not be a trial version but more likely an OEM version.
This being the case there is NO limit to the amount of times you can use the program....do you know which version of Nero7 you have installed.

It says that it is just straight up version 7.0.

On install it did say to me that I had 29 days of mp3PRO use.

Now, it's as if mp3PRO doesn't exist. The option to click it is blanked out/ unclickable.]

Where should I be able to find mp3PRO on my computer?

thanks

This is a new one to me, I dont even know where to find mp3pro and I have the FULL version of Nero7...my version is 7.0.8.2.
As I said I cannot see how your Version of Nero7 has a life span of only 29 burns.

Yeah, I am really puzzled as well. It's really annoying. Especially since all I want to do with Nero is put some of my cd's on my PC and use the CDDB thing to get the titles etc.

And I need to be able to encode to mp3 for that!

Have you checked out the Guides Tab at the top of the page, you might find something usefull.

Also which version of Nero7 are you running, it will be something like 7.0.8.2 or similar.

Which particular part of Nero7 had the mp3PRO selection

Isn't MP3PRO an extra that you buy for unlimited MP3 conversion?
I know I paid money for it for Nero 6. It works in Nero 7 too.

see http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/mp3PRO_Plug_In.html

Mike, I have the Full version of Nero7, can you tell me where to find this feature, not that I want to use it...I only want to know if it's available with my version.

OK thanks for the link...you are correct, its a plug in you have to pay for, Cheers.

I don't know why you were allowed only 2 CD's. Remember the limit is 30 file conversions, not 30 CD's.

Lengthy quote from the Nero Burning Rom help file:
Quote:
=============
MP3 and mp3PRO

Because of its good audio quality and small file size the MPEG3 audio format (with the extension MP3) has become the format most used to transmit audio data on the Internet. This is why Nero Burning ROM 7 also supports the burning of the popular MP3 files - Nero Burning ROM 7 handles them just like any other audio files and they are automatically decoded before burning.

You can test the Nero Burning ROM 7 mp3PRO encoder plugin as soon as Nero Burning ROM 7 is installed. You can encode up to 30 audio files or pieces of music from CD in the popular MP3 or mp3PRO format.

mp3PRO files can be compressed to half the size of the conventional MP3 files with the same quality. These two file types have the same extension: mp3.

MP3 Plugin

The MP3 plugin uses the brand new and ultrafast MP3 encoder from the Fraunhofer Institut, the inventors of MP3. With the MP3 encoder you can condense your favorite pieces of music down to 10 % of their original size. And with virtually no audible loss of quality! Nero AG would like nothing better than to let its users create as many MP3 files as they want but we cannot do this for licensing reasons as the rights are held by Fraunhofer Institut and we would need to pay them fees. That's why you can only test the encoder 30 times. If after that you wish to continue using the encoder, you will find further information about buying the mp3PRO plugin in the Webshop.

Ohhhhhh....30 conversions...that's why! Sorry, I get it now!

What about this though...when I did convert them and saved them (apparently as mp3's) to my desktop...and I went to properties...the file type was not mp3...but "File".

When I went to play any one of them in Media Player, they would not play!

I mean, if they are supposed to be successfully converted to mp3's....why wouldn't they play??

Would it be because I encoded them as mp3PRO and not as straight up mp3?
