TV Tuner works, but no sound

Hey everyone, I recently bought a Norwood TV Tuner and it has s-video and coaxial connections. I installed everything and everything is working very good except I cant get any audio to work on cable tv or from my camcorder. I do have a c-media 8738 sound card installed, so that might be the problem, but I tried switching to onboard sound and still nothing.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it is like my Hauppauge card, you need to select the correct input setting. It is a trial and error thing, but only takes a minute or so to get it.

What software were you supplied with? There should be some settings around for video and audio input. Look around, like GrandpaBW said, trial and error :)

its called WinTVR3. I am thinking there should be a cable to run to my sound card, but i dont even know where it would plug in...

It depends what video setting you're using. If coaxial then both audio and video should work. If it's s-video then you need to connect to the sound card using an audio splitter. It goes into the line-in port and has the right and left audio coming out to connect the sound through.

ok, well i got it working! I just had to plug the speakers directly into the svideo thing.
but now when I record shows, theres no sound. any ideas?

what are all the available inputs for the card? does it have s-video, coaxial, as well as component audio and video? if there's no sound in the programs you either have the wires wrong, which could well be a possiblity, or you just have some settings to go through in the menus of the program. there might be a program button somewhere in the program interface, you could also try right-clicking on the program interface and that might open a menu.

I did. You can watch tv without sound but with video, right? You still have to make sure the audio is plugged in correctly and whatever is in my previous post :)

no, the post about how I got it working.
I now have sound for tv and camcorder stuff, but if I record them to my computer it doesnt record the sound.

does your computer have enough processing power to record both audio and video, i know one of mine don't. what r ur specs? also, have u tried anything through the menus?

i dont know where the setting would be, there is stuff like VCD, dvd, SVCD for recording but none work with audio. My specs are:
2.2 ghz
512mb ram
200gb hard drive
tv tuner

see if you have the sound drivers installed properly. i know that was a problem for someone before who had a norwood tuner. check through device manager, accessed through the properties of my computer.

I have an idea, let me know what you think.
I think whats happening is that I am hooking the speakers directly to the tv tuner, and even though its going through the computer it might not have the ability to record since its going to the speakers.
What if i were to connect the audio out of the tv tuner into the microphone, that way the sound would be going directly into the microophone port instead of to the speakers.
Let me know if you know what im saying.

Good idea but we need to know a few things. the big question is, what is the audio port on the tv tuner? Is it audio out, line-in, audio in? Also, you have a coaxial going in or component video? If only component video, then how are you getting sound?
You could plug it into the mic port but that might damage the port and also, the sound is not the best. Your best bet if you don't have audio in on the tv tuner is to again, go through the line-in port on your sound card.

my card has 2 connections. S-Video and Coaxial Cable. On the S-Video there is a thing that I plug into it and it has video in (yellow), audio in (light blue), audio out(light green), and a female s-video(black).
I am getting sound by plugging my speaker jack into the audio out (green) connection.
I ordered a cord today, and should be here soon that is a male to male cord. That way, I will connect one end to the Audio Out (green) and then the other end into my Line port on my soundcard.
Will that work do you think?

yes, that should work. and then you want to select sound recording from your line-in port through the program.
