I'm unfamiliar with this site, so I hope I'm posting in an appopriate place!
I have transfered all my old Umatic camera masters onto DVD but want the footage on Hard Drive as a backup and to easily import to an editing program. There's about 50 hours.
I've just today loaded a trial version of DVD X Platinum (2.1.0.43), but the moderator of the forum on this program says it's not a genuine product as it's no longer legally available. It didn't seem to do what I wanted anyway.
Can anyone help me by suggesting the most suitable software (legal) to make best quality (no compression) backup of my DVDs onto my hard drive?
Thanks in eager anticipation.
Peter
PS I've been told that 1 Click DVD Copy may be ideal
Welcome to AfterDawn........ the first thing you should know....... don't double post the same question! it's very annoying reading the same question in more than one forum thread. but you're a newbie so no worries.... just try not to do that again, please.
If I read your request correctly.... you already tranfered you camera movies to DVD........ you want to get a copy of those movies onto the hard drive...... use a free program called DVDDecrpter:
Thanks for this - I will certainly follow up your suggestion of DVDDecrpter.
I haven't yet worked out how AfterDawn works or is constructed. Is there a guide?
I first posted on the DVD X Copy forum and the moderator suggested I post elsewhere as my trial copy of the program was apparently unauthorised. I looked down the list of forums and couldn't find a fully appropriate one, so I posted on DVD Ripping first. I imagined that readers of one forum would not necessarily read others if that wasn't their subjuct. I only posted on this forum after 24 hours with no reply from the first. Sorry again for the duplicate posting - I am still not sure which forum would be the best for my question!
I hope you didn't take this to heart! I was a newbie once, too! WE all were! A question like this on can be posted in the Newbie or Advanced forums. Then if you have questions of programs..... then you can post in the appriate sections: Shrink, Nero, Rebuilder, etc. It's good that you should check things out. Just to let you know..... it's slow right now..... sometimes this forum goes fast and sometimes it takes forever to get a responce. Don't be discouraged ... members will respond..... and when you do ask a question, back it up with as much information as you can.... like:
what programs you used, what DVD you are talking about, what methods and settings you might have used..... things like that will go a long way to getting you an answer that helps you out. Most members are happy to help out anyone who asks. That's what makes AfterDawn great! good luck and I hope you have much burning success!
