Hey First of all I just don't want to say that I saw this and wanted to say that I nor the site condone Pirating.

First I have to say that it is technically legal for people to Sell Pirated movies ONLY IFyou say this "DUE TO COPYRIGHT LAW EVERYTHING BEING SOLD IS AS A BACKUP FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE THE FACILITIES TO BACK UP THEIR OWN CDS/DVDs.
AS SUCH ANY ONE BUYING IS AGREEING THAT THEY EITHER OWN THE ORIGINAL OR ARE USING IT AS AN EVALUATION COPY AND WILL DESTROY IT AFTER 24 HOURS.
OBVIOUSLY THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN CARRY OUT THE ABOVE IS YOURSELF, WHICH MEANS THAT I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU'RE YOUR ACTIONS ONCE ANY OF THESE ITEMS ARE BOUGHT. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE ABOVE BUT I HAVE TO ADD THIS AS IT MAKES THIS LEGAL UNDER COPYRIGHT LAW"

Thank You

No, that's dumb.

Superbly, rediculously, amazingly dumb.

If that were true, then no torrent site would have ever been shut down, no warez site would have ever been shut down, no cd-duplication business would have never been shut down, there would be no DMCA, and no intellectual property law.

So, first off, it's piracy related, and therefore banned. Second off, it's false and misinformative, that makes it even worse.

Loose the Caps Lock. It's against forum rules and is rude; equated with shouting.

Your argument is rubbish.

You mean this one? The one that makes you go to prison longer if you pirate a dvd than if you murder your wife?

read more here:

You should not expect at any time in the near future that congress will make piracy any easier or less punished.

if you guys know The Pacfic Mall and First Markham Place oriental malls in Canada. You would know that in each mall 200 of the 400 stores sell bootleg movies and games and I shop in that mall for getting cheap compmuters.

Anyways, I just got curious to see how they stay in business for 10+years with bootleg VHS and DVD's/

I read the rule somewhere cant remember.

Is it illegal for someone to give away a pirated movie for free?

Thank You

Canada is not the United States. Of course, you can go to chinatown and get the same stuff in the US.

And, they're probably buying their bootlegs from Taiwan or Singapore or Korea, so they're legally imported, so they can be resold, sort of. This is really illegal in the US, but it's probably NOT in Canada...at least not yet. Canada's not real big on anti-piracy legislation though, which drives the MPAA and RIAA nuts.

And no, it's not legal to give away bootlegged anything either.

You may only make a backup if you legally purchased the original, and you must make a backup of the one you have, not another one.

then there's the whole part about, if you do what spirrow suggested, you can go down for circumvention of copyright protection as well as selling pirated material, adding to the punishment.

Actually, if you're using AnyDVD and/or Shrink, you can uncheck the "remove protection" boxes. Then you'll get a copy without removing the copyright protection. 8^) I only use any and shrink, so I don't know if other programs have that option or not.

yes, but if Anydvd's doesn't remove the protection, another program does...otherwise, you won't be copying any movies.
