Hi there,

Ive been trying burn my episodes of House MD and lost onto DVD so i can watch them on standalone DVD players and have found that Nero 7 and Nero Vision 4 are very good for doing what i want with creating my own menu and adjusting quality and therefore length etc.. but if i try to put more then say 3 episodes on one DVD i start getting quite severe voice sync problems with a few of the eps or all of them. Its quite annoying and ive tried fixing it by shutting everything down except nero on my pc and leaving it run overnight. Is it sinply because my pc cant handle it? ive got a p4 2.6, 1 gig ram but a crappy geforce fx 5600 with 128mb ram. Is it my graphics card? or do i need a high powered dual core processor or is it a simple codec problem or glitch in good old nero..

Thanks heaps for any help

I would guess that if you were adding more video that Nero was changing the burning parameters to compensate. It might be doing so enough to cause problems.

You might try this. When you put titles on the Titles page in NV4, you can hold the mouse over them and the popup shows the burn settings that will be used. Maybe you could add 1 title at a time and check the settings to see what might be changing for each new title.

You might also decide where you want the bit rates and whatever else and set them manually when you start the project. That will keep Nero from adjusting them.

Yes Nero Usually automatically adjusts the bitrate to compensate for me putting so much content on one DVD. It sets it to one of its pre-set levels of:
High qaulity
Standard Play
Long Play
Extended Play
Super Long Play

It usually sets it to Extended play (2537kbit/s) which is fine..i dont mind the picture quality, you really cant notice much of a difference with downloaded TV series. Its just that the voice sync shouldn't go off. I tried last night burning two different DVD images, one with 5 episodes on it and in relatively low quality and one with 2 episodes on it and in standard quality. I got voice sync off in the same episode on both DVD's, this is what has led me to my latest idea... All the episodes i get whether it be Lost or House MD i get from different sources, well they are all torrents but come from different people who make them, i just get the one with most seeds. They are all .AVI files, but some say XviD in their name, some dont. Could different encoding methods or something be the problem? and could i fix this by converting them all myself to a standard form before burning?

Also My Nero version is v7.0.1.4b and is downloaded and made premium version via keygen, could this be my problem? i have started downloading v7.2.0.3 to see if it fixes it.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers

Big Gav

Hey - I have the same problem using the same software trying to burn the same show in the same style... ie putting 4 episodes of Lost (the 700mb 5.1 dolby digital versions)on to a single DVD-R disc so if you do manage to sort this problem could you please post the solution cos this is driving me mad!

Thanks - Sambo

Many (including me) have had this problem and no solution has been found yet. Also, it seems to happen at random...sometimes everything works fine, other times it seems like the audio always gets out-of-whack. I've been sifting through posts for the last few months to no avail. I just think Nero is a crappy transcoder. Per other's suggestions, i have moved on to using ConvertXtoDvd to do this. However, I would prefer it if Nero did the job...it's more intuitive for me to use. Oh well, what can you do.......

ok so u have solved it by using that other program, but does this mean i can still create menu's etc? i dont mind using other programs as long as i come out wiht the same result...i just want a DVD that i can fit as much as i want on..ie 5 eps.. and have a menu on it so i can navigate it. Can convertXtoDVD do this for me?

yes, it can do everything Nero does for AVI to dvd. Menus, shrinking to DVD-5 if necessary if you have a bunch of avi's, etc. However, it's not free...unless you know where to acquire such things. I know it's not much help, it's just what i've done to fix this issue with me. I still like Nero better...i wish it worked more than half the time!

I got the program, works a treat. Couldn't be any happier, thanks for your help and suggestions. Still would be great if Nero could do this without stuffing up. Guess it would be hard to make one program that does it all like Nero tries to offer, perhaps they should test stuff before they release it. When i go home on a uni holiday ill give it a go on my mates mega pc and see if it has anything to do with the power of the pc just to try and solve this very annoying problem for anyone else that suffers from it.

Thanks again
