Try and free up some memory, dont multitask

The version of Nero you are using is a GOOD one, take my advice..DONT update to 7.2.0.3 unless you need more failures, Cheers.

@asunanegi
Here's a few more suggestions for you:
Device not available
Check your usb connection. Do you have another 2.0 usb port your can try? Or maybe another usb cable?

You've freed up some memory as Gwen suggested - let's try for a little more to also make sure something isn't interfering w/ the drive. Shut down any unnecessary processes - even disconnect from the internet and stop anti-virus and firewall while burning.

DVD high compatibility mode: Yes
Turn this option off.

Burn process failed at 6x
I'd still try 4x for now.

What's changed since you we're able to burn dvd's?

actually, I've never been able to burn dvds on this computer. This drive is external, so I usually burn them on a computer that works. but now I need to free up my hard drive, so I need to burn on this computer.

I'll try a burn and post a log soon. Thanks for trying to help ^_^

Well since this drive burns on another pc - drive and usb cable can be ruled out.
Do you have another 2.0 usb port in this pc to try?
The log is almost identical except 4x & unchecking high compatability didn't help.

You also have several virtual drives - Alcohol I think for most of them - uninstall some - this may help.
Check for a driver update on the usb hub controllers in device manager. You can also check there to see if they report working properly.
Might want to try a different power outlet w/ the drive.

Sometimes aspi can interfere w/ external burners - check NeroToolKit>Info Tool>aspi tab to see what's listed.
See if any of the above helps at all and then we can check the aspi bit if needed.

Okay running low on options here.
Memory in use : 83 %
Still quite high.
If you haven't done this recently - do a system defrag and a virus scan.
A lot of your ram is in use.
Also do a disc cleanup.
Now go into Nero ToolKit>InfoTool>ASPI tab - what's listed in there?

I have taken a look at your log and compared it to my backups using my external drives and the only thing I am seeing that is different is this.
Quote:
Adapter driver: <SCSI> HA 1
Do you have a SCSI card/bus?

Mine read this.

As you can see they are both reading IDE, which makes a difference in transfer. Here is an article

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=faq_general.html

I don't know how much difference this can make, if any, but as you say you have never been able to burn on the computer it might be something to look into. The only time I had USB problems was a few years ago when I hooked up a MicroTek scanner that had a SCSI interface that effected my NEC and it would not burn, had to get rid of the scanner.

Read the link that arniebear gave - down towards the bottom will have the info you need and explain scsi.
For your aspi I was looking to see if maybe one was corrupted and was causing you a problem - none seem to be.
Are you able to burn cd's with the internal cd writer? Oh and when you say you use the external on a computer that works what's happening w/ this pc?

I can burn CDs with the internal CD-RW drive. What's different about this computer? Well, I installed Nero 7 and then stupidly tried to install Nero 6 over it, then tried to install 7 AGAIN over 6...>.>

I'll checkout the SCSI

It looks like your drive came with a cd to install the drivers - did you install them on this drive?
Between the installs of Nero you ran the clean tool before the last install like you had in the 1st post.
Any other burning software?
One last question :) - what are you trying to back up from this pc?

Mostly unlicenced anime, all legal. I've had quite a few series on my computer, and ended up having to delete them. Since I'm too lazy to get enough money for another hard drive, I'm trying to burn to a dvd to save space -_-

Did you use the Nero Clean Tools, Reg Clean Tools when you did this, I think your Nero installation may be messed up. Try cleaning out all of them and then do a fresh install of one of them. You can go here for the clean tools.

The latest version of Nero is 7.2.0.3 try dl that and see if it works. After much searching on the errors you are getting all I could find that this is usually seen with USB drives and could be anything from a bad enclosure to a conflict with virtual drives. Since you say you have burned with this burner on another computer then the burner does work. There must be something that is different between the computers. Can you post a log from the computer that works?

There is something strange about the logs, they keep changing. Something is connected to this computer that is causing a conflict.
