Look, I've been reading these fourm for quite some time now, and I have gotten some pretty solid info, but my big issue is how do I play my downloaded ps2 games (Imports from Japan) On my PS2. Now note I have one of the very orignal Ps2's that came out, and the little F*@#er doesn't like the blue sided dvds or ps2 games, or it will come up with the damn DISC Read Error Bull (I've fixed this momentarily by turing that white gage in the back of the system and having it standing up on it's side)but never the less, I cannot get the damn thing to read my ps2 backups or downloaded versions, I bought high grade DVD+R media, such as Maxwell, Vertabim, Taiyo, etc. and it still wont read. I even have ARMax and done the gay slide tool method and it still will not work, so please anyone who is generous, to lend me a hand so that myself and plenty of other hopefull gamers can be successful in this little dilema.

First of all you should be a bit more polite when you are asking for help, people are more willing to help if you do that...
You should be using DVD-R not DVD+R, also it sounds like you don't have your PS2 modded, so obviously that's a problem if you want to play downloaded games (which is illegal by the way, if you don't own the original copy). Do you have the original AR or did you download it?
Lastly you should read the sticky and use the search function, most of your questions are answered there

Number 1, dude I was just stating the problem "I" Was having, how the heck you thought I needed to be more polite, is beyond me. Jeez chill.
No, my PS2 is not modded, I've just added a few modfications to it myself, and I change the book-type of the DVD+R so that really shouldn't be an issue.

1. I didn't consider his post impolite, especially compared to some of the people who ask for help here (or should I say demand.)
2. I use DVD+R and they work fine.
iluvanika: You're gonna need a mod chip or swap magic to play back-ups and imports, not sure what modifications you have done but it sounds like you still need either a specially designed chip that enables the playing of back-up and imports, usually reffered to as a 'mod chip', or you could use the swap magic, which I don't know much about - I've always used mod chips, I'm not even sure if SM boots imports.
If you have questions regarding swap magic, do a google on it or search for it here as people tend to get upset when the same thing is asked over and over again. Ditto mod chip.

Your PS2 seems to be having laser troubles, look at the - Games stuttering and skipping or just not booting up at all? Link in my signature, it will most likely fix your laser problems.
As for the media, go for Verbatim/Taiyo Yuden @8x and burn at 2x-4x.
And as far as I know, ARMax is a CD game, and will have to be burnt to CD. You mentioned how your machine doesen't play CDs. Follow the guide as stated above, it should fix your laser issues. If not, then look here - http://home.versatel.nl/joeriroels/Download/DVD_games%20DVDRIPS%2...
It is a guide on how to burn CD games to DVD properly. I do highly reccomend you get your laser sorted though.

Mik3h, thanks a bunch, I am just wondering how to fix my laser issues, I've heard rumors floating around about adjusting the height of the laser or whatever. I do have a burned copy of Swap magic, it just says, "Swapmagic has already been installed on your system" once I perform the Action Replay Max swap technique. The only modifications I did, was I opened my ps2 and used a screwdriver to pop open the top of the drive when I need to sawp instead of the exrtremely hard knife trick. I've used dvd decryptor to rebuild my ps2 image files and even patched the NTSC to them. thanks

Hmm, I've never heard of a method of "installing" swap magic. A burned copy won't work, you will need to have an original of it to do the swap.

duh, sorry didn't see it b4, thanks. Okay now I've already done this procedure b4, now the issue i'm having now after I've built the game burned it at 4X on Nero 7 ultra, and changed the book type to DVD-Rom, and put it on a Maxwell, DVD-R, it still wont boot, now I also have cdloader, cogsloader, and dvdloader on my pendrive, is there any other way to get them to boot without buying a mod chip or am I going to have to buckle down and just get one? thanks
