how do you go if you burn a slightly smaller disc, as you lod shows you are attempting to burn right to the edge.

Try going down to 4300 , do another burn and see if that works

I saw that you were doing a simulation in that burn log, but the media you use is not the best if you are going to burn a disc.

I think that might be Maxell Not made in japan. Whatever it is,
Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs are the only ones i recommend for DVD burning. Anything else would still leave open the possiblity of the media being bad.
Is that mad dog external? If not there may be a problem with the bus driver
Quote:
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ?
on 6x logs that ? indicates a problem if the drive is internal. Nero 7 always shows a ? so it doesnt have any meaning to me in a 7 log.
This is what we should see if the drive is internal:
Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI

Its been awhile since i have seen one of those, but i think the fix is the same as for turning on DMAs for the burners, but you do it for the IDE channels instead of the burners.

hi :)
only one proviso i would add is, as my sig suggest's i use RITEK 95% of the time
only use RITEK's own brand names ie.
RITEK...RIDATA and TRAXDATA, to be assured of their top quality media,
NEVER use RITEK under the brand name Arita, these are grade "B" RITEK which are perfectly good for Data, but not for video

I agree about the ritek. I usually dont include them as suggestions as i have very little experiance with them, but the ones i have used were fine. Sorry gurnard, i know you are like the Doc Ty of ritek to me and you like/use the media. I dont include them out of habit. Ive even thought of having a cut and paste of the whole suggested media line as it gets old telling ppl were to find Tys. I still type it out though.

@ maxburn: its very hard to get taiyo yuden where i am, they used to be very popular but when the fakes started to appear well the pricing went up.Ritek is more favorable here.

@gurnard: i know old boy, i guess this is payback aye......lol
