I'm having trouble once again, my ps2 (V7 with DMS4 Lite E.Z.I modchip) plays ps2 dvd backups, ps2 cd backups, ps2 dvd originals, and ps2 cd originals without any trouble.
the ps1 originals and ps1 cd backups load fine in the browser, no noise and the icon appears. after selecting it the ps2 starts making a clicking a grinding for about 10 seconds, then the disc stops spinning and the screen stays black. Following some guides i manually cleaned my laser again, first with some compressed air and then with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

No change after cleaning so i followed some other recommendations about placing some tape on the upside of the cd near the center in equal lengths. Still grinds and clicks. i tried adjusting the laser many times, it will only function in the location it was originaly so i set it back to the marks i made.

Some of the other members had posted something about holding the reset button until the eject button lights up, no luck with that either. i'm using Maxell's and Verbatim CD-R's (made in japan).
I also tried disabling my chip to play the ps1 originals, it just gives me a RSOD after scanning the disc.

I won't lie, some of my originals do have some scratches. so i tried some of my well handled games aswell (no dirt,no scratches, no anything)

Here's a listing of the ps1 originals and backups i tried

 Final Fantasy 9 - original & verbatim
 Final fantasy 8 - original
 final fantasy 7 - verbatim & Maxell
Chrono Cross - (well handled, no dirt/scratches) original
 Chrono Trigger - Maxell
Harry potter and the sorcerer's stone - original
 Final fantasy 5 & 6 (anthologies) - maxell, verbatim & original
 Gameshark (ps1) - original
Need for Speed 4 : High Stakes - Original & maxell

All of them give the same results no matter what i try. Just tell me, is there something i didnt do right? or is my laser on it's last leg?
