My old dvd burner died, so I hired the computer tech business in town to install a new one. They installed the ASUS DRW-1608P3S

With my old burner, using anydvd and clonedvd2 I was able to make backups in less than 30 minutes.

The asus burner takes over 60 minutes to copy and over 40 minutes to write. I am not running any other software in background, have shut off virus protection, checked system perfomance in task manager, and nothing is using system resource except clonedvd2. (all of these things were suggestions to someone else on the newbie site)

I contacted slysoft for tech support they said to disable/remove sonic dma program. Which I also did, but still no improvement in burn times.

What can I do?

I've been making backup movie dvds since last fall with very good results.

Thanks everyone!

See my post on the dvd newbie forum on August 26th, 2006.

I changed the order of the drives on the IDE cable. I can now backup/burn in less than 20 minutes.

Yes.DMA is enabled. The time is still very large(about 40 mins).Stupid Drive. This asus drive is giving me nightmares.I wish my previous Liteon drive still worked. It didn't last long(a little more than a year),but copied and burnt pretty fast.
I can't seem to find the message p4fb is talking about. How bout adding advanced search to the forum?
