Anyone have any good links for Soulseek Program download? or any other than Limewire. I always end at dead end sites where the links are broken or fake.

go to www.ircspy. click on guides. Follow the guide for installing and setup of mIRC. It will configure it so you can download (XDCC) and search for files and all that.

Lol you're rediculous.
The mp3 format, mp4, ogg, wmv, etc, CANNOT carry virii.
You were downloading something other than music, and you deserve what you got.

yes, music files, just like ANY other files, can contain viruses. but SS is a pretty safe and secure P2P app, with only music gurus sharing music. It hasn't been swarmed with useless crap like the bit torrent networks have.

No, they can't.
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/archive/index.php/t-29014.html
http://www.f-secure.com/hoaxes/mp3vir.shtml
They can cause problems for you if you use WMP and have it set up wrong though.
http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2002-37.html
But no, media files cannot contain malware in their main state.
And no, not ANY other file can contain a virus. Sure, someone can repackage something like "uselessfile.txt" so that's what shows up on the screen, but really the .exe on the end is hidden, but yea.
Media files, and several data files, contain NO executable code, therefore they cannot contain virii. They can contain fake licensing codes, that try to get you to download fake licenses and thus give you worms, whatever. They can try to run macros (only some formats, and only on some viewers)
You won't get a virus from a txt, a css, a php, an html. You won't get a virus from a non-licensed mp3, an mp4, an ogg, or a .wav. You won't get a virus from a jpeg or a gif or a png or a bitmap. If your macros are disabled, nothing bad will happen opening a TRUE wpd or doc, and by true I mean it really is what it says it is. A zip might contain a virus in its packaging, but opening the zip won't infect you. Same w/ .rar, .gz, .7zip, or any other compression.
If something prompts you to obtain a license for it, and it's not something you just paid for, say NO. Turn of "automatically obtain license" if you use wmp.
Seriously, spread facts, not fear.

spread facts? you should read those links more carefully
Quote: While actual music files cannot be infected, files with .mp3 extensions can contain macro code that the Windows or RealNetwork media players will interpret and run. So, .mp3 files have expanded beyond pure music.
hackers can encrypt mp3 files with macro codes. I'm not sure what extent of harm they can cause, but there are many bad music files out there.

No, I discussed those.
However, like I said, if you have your settings set to "non retard mode", you'll be fine.
And for the most part, those "macros" are fake DRM's to get you do "download licenses", that aren't licenses at all, which I already said.
I stand by what I said. If there's nothing to execute, there's no risk.
