Why is it that I cant encode an uncompressed quicktime? Do I need a particular codec? This is very annoying? Any ideas anyone?

Try ConvertXtoDVD, DVDSanta, or Winavi.

Hi!
No it does not support. Nerovision can convert mov to AVI or dvd.
After you can feed the dvd to Nero recode.

nero,powerdirector,rm-converter,dvd fab,easycleaner,ccleaner,nec3520,fx5900,amd2250Mhz +/-....

No, Nero Recode mainly works with video_ts folders. I have Nero Vision Express 2 which doesn't seem to support quick time either. In any case, Nero is not very good at encoding, either it doesn't work, or give people the sync. problem. So you may want to try the programs I suggested. If you want freeware, try look for the freeware version of VSO DivXtoDVD.

Good luck!

Nero6/7 Vision can convert my Mov files. I take videos with my Sanyo pocket digital camera, 30 frames per second, not so bad.Nero lets me to convert to PAL (25fps) as well.I can keep almost the same quality with highest settings.

Well, I've had a serious result with Recode. The video that I have managed to encode from AVI runs extremely well on a mobile phone. Really clear, no drop frames or blocking. I haven't had a result like this from any other software. I'm encoding uncompressed quicktimes because I am capturing them from Digibeta tape for DVD production. I need to encode to 3GP.
The annoying thing is, I can only capture either video/audio Quicktimes or video AVI (plus seperate wav). I have no way of creating an interleaved AVI with the video and audio parts.
Anyone know of any muxing software to create the one file?

plus I don't want to go down the double conversion or double compression route.
