Layer break when burning a DVD+R DL disc (data)

I want to burn about 24 or so .avi files, each about 350MB, onto a dvd+r dl disc. So far I've only burnt dvd-video onto dl discs, with good results. What I want to know is how is the layer break handled for data? I'll be using Nero, I guess. Does it necessarily look for a point between two of the files, or can it make the break elsewhere? Can I set the break myself in Nero? I ask since I have no idea if the resulting disc will play in my standalone DivX player but I figure if the break is between two of the files that at least there's a chance that it will. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Nero has been known to have trouble with layer breaks. I would use DVDDecrypter to create an ISO then burn it with ImgBurn.

Thanks, but how would I create an ISO with Decrypter from a folder full of .AVI files?

Hi there,
I was told VSO CopyToDVD will also do a good job on Layer Break for DATA.
Never tried it yet.
I also hear Nero has issues with the Layer Break !
I also agree, burn to an .ISO file, then burn the .iso with IMG Burn (So I was told)...

About your initial question, I wonder too if when burning AVI files or data files to DL DVD (data), you'll get somehow a layer break while playing the AVI after having burnt the DL Data DVD.

@ginnypot,
I've now burned 10 DL discs packed full of .AVI files for play on my Philips DVP642. The good news is they play PERFECTLY!

@mrchub Did you use Folder2ISO and ImgBurn as I suggested?
Did you put them in seperate folders or just one?

@dolphin2...No, actually I didn't. I downloaded it just in case but haven't used it. Decided to risk just using Nero and dumping the .AVI files onto a disc to see what would happen. No multiple folders, just dragged them into the burn window as with anything else. Works great. I'm still sticking with ImgBurn for regular DL dvd-video, though.

Glad to hear you had success! I just don't trust Nero with layer breaks as I've had some bad ones. Until I hear they have fixed the problems, I'll continue to use other methods.
