If you are using XP, start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager, scroll to mice and other pointing devices. Click to expand, right click the result, select properties, then the power management tab. Then uncheck allow this device to bring the computer out of stand by. This is the way to disable the mouses ability to awaken the computer, but, since I've been running xp, no matter what I do it doesn't work. Maybe it'll work for you. CD. If you aren't running xp, the process is similar.

just my 2cents
sleeping the computer is a very bad idea
a lot of people have crashed the computer doing just sleep mode, lost data, and weird glitches.

its best to change the user accounts and on your login add a password
take off fast switching and that other windows welcome screen check marks

then when you want to lock up the pc just push ctrl alt delete and enter
must enter a password to get back into the system.. then you can just shut off the monitor.

I live my life one warez download at a time.

I agree with Ianski7 this should be done in Bios cmos setup utility (hit delete on bootup),
Power management then disable power on by mouse and or keyboard
