I have been burning dvds using the same process for over a year now and suddenly I can't burn anything.
I decrypt with anydvd and shrink with dvdshrink and burn with nero.
Every time I am getting burn process failed. (usually says invalid block address)
I turned by DMA back on and still get failures.

I can recall dealing with a thread you recently posted and I see you have NOT made any changes I recommended.
You have not updated your Nero
You still have Roxio installed.
ASPI not installed, if you did these things then your problem would be solved.

I did some of the changes you told me to do.
My question is this -- why do I need to update my Nero and delete roxio when I have burned probably 100 disks and had no problems with what I have? Roxio has been on my computer since I bought it.
I don't want to update my Nero - until now I have been very happy with it. - I see many people having problems with the update.
What would make this suddenly start not working?

You also need to remove your serial number, it begins with 1A23, before someone steals it.
If you don't want to make the changes suggested, make an ISO image with DVD Shrink and burn with Imgburn.

In your case updating would be a good idea because your current Nero is not working. Updating or removing and reinstalling Nero has fixed a lot of problems. Sometimes something in the program can get corrupted and reinstallation will put all the ones and zeros back where they need to be.
The thing I notice most about your burn log is that your media information is missing. The available space on the blank is indicated but there is no disc information that I can see.
If I were in your situation, I would definitely remove and reinstall the version that Gwen gave you the link for. I would also run Nero's driver cleaner and registry checker tools. They actually work pretty well.

As far as Roxio goes, sometimes it interferes. I'm not convinced that the error you recieved is from Roxio, however because you are having problems I'd remove it and then after the newer version of Nero is installed and working, I'd reinstall Roxio and see what happens....But only if you actually use it. It is a pretty good CD program.
It would not surprise me if this is a burner problem either. SCSI errors are kind of generic and don't specifically say what has failed. When two or more errors occur in a row it is usually a safe bet that the first error caused the second error. Your first error was an illegal request:
5 24 00 Illegal Request - invalid field in CDB
Which in turn gives you the write error.
Gwen has already given you the most of the possible solutions.
Here is a list of things that should be checked with this error, you will see that Gwen has covered them pretty well. This list is from

You can look for it at the bottom of the page, I just glossed over it here.
1. Running Programs
Make sure you quit all running background programs, such as anti-virus software.
2. Drive Connection
Other devices may be interfering with the DVD or CD-R/RW drive. Disconnect all other removable devices, then try recording again.
Your log shows your devices are correctly located.
3. ASPI Manager
On my computer I have Ahead WinASPI which I downloaded some time ago. My log has this for ASPI:

By the way, I have a version of Shrink that opens ImgBurn automatically, just like it does with Nero.

Hehe, I spent a few hours today looking over AD > Safety Valve, etc and decided if I'm gonna post replies then I'd better get on the ball and work a bit harder at it. AD is home to me so I want to give the forum and the folks who need help my best.....until I get lazy again. lol.

Thanks for the update - I am going to try those things before I remove roxio. It was packaged with my computer so I don't have the ability to reinstall if that is not the problem. I will save that as my last resort.
BTW, I use verbatim DVD's so I don't think my media is the problem

If its missing and you are using windows XP, then thats fine as windows xp or above doesnt need it. BUT, if it is corrupt, you will have burn problems until you fix it.
Go to Nero INFO TOOL and run it. Click on system aspi tab. IF it comes back RED, ie corrupted, just DL the winaspi file fastfrank linked, and copy that file into your nero location. If it says file already exists choose OVERWRITE. I have a short blog on that very problem.

I know where it is located in Version 7 but you are using 6. In 7 it was in CORE, just look thru your nero 6x for the location of your .dll files and paste your winaspi file in there.
You should see this if your aspi is installed correctly:
Roxio does conflict with Nero. Not always, and not for everyone, but the only real way to find out is to remove it with the roxio zapper.

They make zappers because the programs confilct, and can be hard to remove. Most of the time you have a choice, keep roxio, or keep nero, but one or the other has to go for most systems/ppl. You could always do a backup of your system before removing Roxio, and if you want it back, all you have to do is a restore.

that version of nero you are using does not recognize your drive and has assigned it a generic listing. This is not good, and the only way to fix it is to do as Gwen suggested, update Nero.
If you only do some of the suggestions good members suggest, for whatever reason you have, and you still have problems burning, well, we make these suggestions for a reason. We want to help you, but not if you dont want to do what is suggested. Gwen will probably not be back to this thread again as you have not done everything she suggested, again for whatever reason you have. I am not mad at anyone, or upset, im just telling it the way i see it. I hope i dont make anyone mad with this reply, but i am standing by what i have said.
Its up to you what you want to do. We cant fix problems for anyone, we can only show ppl how to fix their own problems. If eyes and ears are closed, showing does no good.

i'd actually consider upping your ram to 1024, some of these conversion programs are very resource heavy.You really dont have much left to play around with according to your log stats.Maybe only run the apps that you have to and see if you can increase your physical memory a bit.
As to gwens comment on nero/roxio there are cases where those programs actually cause conflict when you attempt to burn dvds.I have experienced this but found that roxio zapper and nero clean tools although they got rid of most of the files, they still left residue files in the memory so i had to clean install.After that i only installed nero and havent had an issue yet to date
i cant see in this post but what are your pc stats , just interested to see if your pc is under resourced for actually burning dvds
