clear the password by clearing the cmos with either the jumper on the motherboard or removing the battery. also try another ide cable as present 1 might be bad. switch the ide cable off the rom drives to see if still have problem as that cable is good.

the hd is not & cannot be hooked up to same cable as floppy drive. floppy cable is a 34 pin connector with a twisted section on 1 end. an hd ide cable is 40 pin connector as is the cdrom.

what can cause a computer not to see the sd-rom drives or cause them not to get power?(also the power cables and everything is plug in the right spots for the two cd-rom drives)

also want to double check this. ok i have a friend that has a computer and out of nowhere it starts freezing up and making like clicking noise from the hard drive. i came up with that the hard drive was about to died. is it safe to say this?

yes on the clicking from the hd is indicator hd is going bye bye. try changing around the power cables say from hd & also ide cable. also attach 1 rom drive at a time to see if 1 of the drives is causing the problem.

what does it show in the properties of the drive as there should be 2 sets of numbers? 1 set will say something like 298gig & 2nd set will say something like 324,298,524,112. these are just numbers i'm posting not actual size.
