It just makes me uncomfortable knowing that someone can get that information so easy. It's like a big brother thing!
The solution is not software, it's a device that attaches to my router. I'll have to check with Leo LaPort and find out what the name of it is! The info FIHSNERD's getting is being read off of my router. If I was hooked direct without the router he wouldn't be able to read anything. I use a router because we have 3 computers hooked up at present. It makes it much easier to work on computers without having to install the ISP software every time. Once the router is addressed, you can throw all the ISP crap away. Even if the power goes out the router keeps the address so it's not needed.
I've been "Netscaped, Yahooed, Verizoned, and especially AOLed to death". I don't want any of that BS. Best part of a router is that all I have to do with any computer to get on line is plug in the lan cable and it's on line, right now with nothing to install!
As far as Internet Explorer goes, Thanks but no thanks! Every virus or virus related computer problem I've ever had has come from Internet Explorer and it will continue to be that way as long as Micro$oft has the ability to make changes in your computer without you letting them in to do it. I hate it! If M$ can get in, then so can anybody else. The real problem is that it can't be removed, so you are stuck with some but not all of the problems of IE.

aabbccdd,
As far as I know this is a simple device that plugs in between your line in and router. Since it's hardware, someones software can't get around it.
If I can remember I will contact Leo LaPort tomorrow as he is on the radio tomorrow and Sunday, and ask him the name of the product. I usually go by what he says as he's never steered me wrong yet!
FIHSNERD,
It's not that taking it off changes anything but it's just the constant reminder of how vulnerable you are anytime you are on line. I don't use my Netscape account for anything but personal stuff. I use my Hotmail account when I order things an it's full of spam and junk e-mails. Every month or so I delete all that crap. Now I'm starting to get junk mail and spam on my Netscape mail account all the time after not getting any for over a year. Netscape mail tells you that the spam removal is a learning thing and it will eventually filter it out, but that's BS! It just goes directly to your trash! If you request removal from their e-mail list they just sell your e-mail address to other spam places. In the states we can thank the FFG for that. Federal is the first word and Government the last, you can figure out the other "F" out for yourself!LOL

To All,
I didn't get to Leo PaPort today but I did find a section for hardware firewall routers on Newegg. They go from cheap to Holy Crap! Here's the link!

To Any Mod,
I'm trying to shorten my nick to: theone I've tried a couple of PMs but the only reply I got was from Neph and he couldn't help me. Can anybody help me?

Sam,

Oh, I don't have any of those pics. I tried the webcam but it's too dark in here for that. I'll work on that one but I'll have to clean my desk first (damn)! I've been trying to avoid that!! It's not that bad though, I've only lost the cat twice!
Did I surprise you with the post that was deleted? I like to get a little nutty once in a while and it just sort of kept building. Had a lot of fun writing it though. I'll have to find out in the future where to put stuff like that. Hope you enjoyed it. At least you got to see it before it was removed. I would have been very un-happy if you hadn't! I should have left out the part about the nick and it probably would have been all right!
Elvis discovered the AMD sticker. He wasn't amused! LOL
