@Boxwrench,
This might help to make it more clear.
The results are: 2x512mb ram @1T .
4x512mb ram @2T.

crowy,

It's here! Got my new video card today. ATi based cards have got to be the biggest pain I've ever seen to install. Crashed the hell out of my computer on the re-boot. Fortunately I had downloaded the latest version of Catalyst which cured the problem. It was still pure hell to get the resolution to 1680x1050 as one minute it was on the list and the next, it was gone. Had to keep raising the settings a bit at a time end then re-booting. It finally came up and stayed long enough for me to select it.

As I suspected they would be, all 16 pixel pipelines are enabled so this is effectively an X800 XT, making it a great buy for $132 total! No TV tuner or remote but hey, it didn't cost over $400 either. I watch very little TV anyway. BTW the digital works great. Not a lot better than the analog, but still better!

Bought a couple of interesting keyboards for $9.99 each from Tiger Direct. They are HP Multimedia keyboards. They even came with a ball mouse. Now I can control the volume and DVD player from the keyboard. It's got 2 USB ports which is nice an a whole bunch of stuff I have to figure out. I'm gonna go play.

Happy Computering,
theone

I hate it when you install new hardware and your computer spits the dummy!!Sounds like you got a bargain with the card though.

From what I had read I was just hoping that this card would have the right chip in it. As you can see, it does!

Then there's the Pixel Pipelines. As you can see below all 16 are enabled.

It also has the faster Samsung memory as well so it's really a X800 XT without all the extras. I'm going to load up Quake and find out what the hell kind of game it is. I've never even seen it! Not even a screenshot!

BTW! What's up with the 2 clocks with boxwrench's rig? I ran 4x512 and mine ran fine at 1T. The only way that I know of that this could happen is if you have very different memory pairs as it ran fine with my XMS mated with my PNY Optima at 1T. Puzzling!!!

Got to play, so check you all out later.

I'm not at 2 clocks ,it's still showing a 1T so that has not changed. All 4 sticks are identical Corsair-twinx1024-3200c2pt.
I changed the timings to 2.5,3,3,7 and have regained my loss + about 3% so I'm not sure if I should really expect any more.

I'll post a screen shot in a few for you guys to see,the numbers are a bit confusing to me!

Any suggestions on squeezing some more out of the old girl?

and for those that think intel is a loser on the server market:
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33012
notice the price drops on the d 900 series...and they will be much lower then that. Amd did not expect this.

@boxwrench,
I think Sandra may be giving you a false indication on your command rate.4 ram slots filled will always result in a 2T command rate even if you set it at 1T in the bios.

Guys, Guys,

The first Core 2 Duo at Newegg is over $1400 ($1453.55 for me) + shipping! How many of you are going to spring for that much?

At $1400+, it ain't going on my wish list. We can all maybe ou and ah over it's numbers but not too many people are willing to kick out that kind of coin, even the people who can afford it! I think Intel just tripped over it's own Schwantz again! How much publicity can you expect to get by bringing out a chip that the average Joe, can't afford! Most of the publicity will be *****ing about the price, so it's "Negative" publicity! They went for the performance crown in favor of something that most of us could afford! Not smart Intel!

How many more x2 3800+ and Opteron 170s will AMD get to sell because of it. Better yet many of the people who bought them are new AMD customers. While they ou and ah just like the rest of us, but not many of them are going to run right out and buy a $1400 CPU. Supply is going to be the biggest problem if they release all the models at once like they are supposed to because of Intel's need to stop the bleeding in the server market. They have some great stuff for the server market but again the average joe can't buy one and drop it in his LGA775 socket MB! AMD can! Drop that Opty in a nice Asus SLI MB and away you go!

BTW! This is coming from a guy with 2 Intels, one of them a dual-core that he really likes! Another BTW, 07/27/06 is the "Official" Intel introduction date, not the 23!

Ah Well!! 9 days to Conroe!!

Happy Computering,
theone

Alright,so I'll do a swap with my sig systems memory and see if there are any noticable improvements in the benchmarks...if so I'll know what avenue to pursue when I have some extra cash.

I'll be standing by as well with my Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator. Heh! Heh! Think that's enough power???LOL

BTW, here's my 3D Marks for the new Sapphire X800 GTO:

They are about 20 times higher than my old 5200 could muster!

@crowy,
Thats a project for tomorrow,I'll borrow the memory from the AMD and swap it with the Intel's to see what happens.The 2x1gig sticks of OCZ have the same default timings of 3,3,3,8 so the comparison should prove interesting.

LOL! And I'll also have the dylithium crystals fully charged just in case we need to jump the warp drive.

BTW,Very nice looking numbers on that benchmark, You got one hell of a deal on that card!One of these days I'll run 3dmark just to see how bad my two computers are doing.

"WE Need Warp Power Now, Mr. Scott"!

And I'll bring the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator Justin case we run into the Klingons! LOL

BTW That card is on sale at Newegg for $139. If you have need for a really good AGP card, this is about as good as you are gonna get. Since mine was made in Feb. 05, I'll bet they will all have the 16 pipes and the good memory.
