You don't get it, that will be fully vista compliant, stage 3 of 3, versus just vista capable (stage 1 of 3) - aeroglass, 64-bit processing, THE LOT.

Could be but the goodness of the Core Duo still counts. A Blu-ray laptop? Necessary? Absolutely not!!!! LOL I bet that's a handsome waste of money!

Pff, so do I but I only bought this knowing I'd use its power straight out of the box, FEAR at 1600x1200 anybody? I know I won't use Bluray for a good year so I'll wait until then, and probably a bit longer before making enquiries about fitting a BR-RDL drive to my PC. Bearing in mind I may also need an HD-DVD drive! In all honesty, I prefer having an external hard drive. I have two external Serial ATA ports on my PC, so I can connect up to two external drives via the S-ATA II 3Gbps interface! Not to mention firewire, Gigabit LAN and good 'ole USB2. All preferable to making BR discs imho. You can't lose or scratch an HDD as easily as a DVD!

And yet, for the most part I don't really care for it, because it's all very well information being posted about this that and the other doing this that and the other, but had you bought an AGEIA PhysX card, you'd be pretty pissed off about how little it does so long after it's release at a high cost. I look into things in detail before deciding whether they're really needed, and although I'm told off time and time again for it, I still see dual graphics as a bit gimmicky, not useless by any means, but limited. The untrained eye may look at my PC spec and think it "top of the line" but far from it. This was £1250, and should really have been less if i got my original graphics card choice. Top of the line is £3000 plus, but for what? This can do almost anything a £3000 machine can do! I saw no need for a CPU faster than this one, and when I got this, X2s went up in price steeply! I went for 2GB of RAM not 4 because as yet that's pointless, an X1900XT not an X1900XT-X for the same reason, a 37GB raptor rather than a 150 for the same reason, a 250GB Barracuda rather than a 500 for the same reason, and a Zalman 7000 over a 9500 for the same reason and more (mostly weight concerns). I also got a £17 sound card because it's sufficient. I still use a CRT monitor for that reason too!

He-Man your sig it to big read this

Signatures

These rules exist to make viewing the forum as pleasant as possible to all users. Even though you might think signatures with large pictures look cool, some might find them extremely annoying.

1. Text-only signatures should have at most 5 lines of text.

2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.

3. If you use an animated picture in the signature, it should not be too distractive. Eg. blinking images or images with quick movement are not allowed.

4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text.

5. All the abovementioned rules for forum posts apply also to the signatures.

crowy,

Well I've gone and done it again. I'm now at 3.90 stable! I've thrown everything I can think of at it with no glitches or errors!

Here's the benches for my 22% OC.

Math.

Memory Bandwidth

And Multi-media

If all runs well over the next day or so, I'm gonna try for 4.0!

All I can say is, "Wow."

Nice scores. But maybe a little lower than mine? I dunno. I've never run Sandra and checked. Maybe the same actually. Going on the fact that I'm about the same as a 4800+.

I never had a problem with intel actually. Just their budget processors. Way underpowered. It's sad.

I don't mean to be a smart ass, but how do you know you are about the same as a 4800+ without Sisoft Sandra benchmarks. Nothings better! You can download it for free but get the 2005 free version, not the 2007. It's much easier to read from a screen shot and the results are more meaningful! Because of my sandra benches I know that I am running just a tiny bit better than a 4800+. Not too bad for a $240 CPU!

If you read what I posted properly, you could have saved yourself typing an uncalled for reply.
What about some sandra benches?

@theonejrs,
WELL DONE!!
4ghz is looking good and it sounds so much better too:)
Best of luck.
One other thing,if you hit a pot hole and find 4GHZ just out of reach
try removing two of your memory chips and just leave two of them in slots 1 and 3 your memory controller won't be working as hard and you'll be less likely to experience random re-boots.

Tommorrow is ordering day for the new memory and cooler so I'm looking forward to 3GHZ(says prayers fingers and toes crossed!!)

amd has 80% of the market share and is going to remain strong. sure the new Intel Conroe is going to be a great chip but with the amd price drops (the 3800x2 being 169.00 dollars) they will be in good shape .early 2007 when the amd 3s hit the market should be interesting
Do you really beliave what you are saying about AMD having 80% of the market share. Please prove me wrong with actual facts. AMD may be dropping there prices but so is intel. Amd-2's still has a problem with ddr 2 memory and you are talking about vaporware amd-3's. lol
Intel has the conroe.. amd has....? Don't get me wrong, I favor Intel, but would use AMD if it were viable.
I know you all are ranting about the lack of aviable conroe chips. Give it a couple of weeks. Even the lowly 6300 will beat out the fx-62. See the benches on any of the many reliable review places..ie:tom's hardware guide etc.

By the way, the above post is quite understandable. But most of your post or like from mars. Maybe I am getting old and senile.

I agree with the one. If you have no benches, how can you make a statement that you "think or feel" that your computer Must be running as good as his? Please post benches.

In our WorldBench 5 test suite, Intel's Core 2 Duo reference system outscored a matching system equipped with AMD's high-end Athlon 64 FX-62 chip by 17 percent. We also tested shipping PCs based on several chips in the Core 2 Duo family, including a water-cooled, overclocked ABS machine that posted a mark of 181 on our WorldBench 5 test--the highest WorldBench score we've ever seen. (See PC World's
detailed test results and chart. For full reviews of five new Core 2 Duo-based systems, click the product names in the results chart.)

All of our Core 2 Duo configurations performed impressively, and the higher-end models in particular should allow power users to handle demanding multimedia work on their PCs more quickly and to perform multiple computing tasks at once more efficiently. Gaming, too, will receive an impressive boost from systems equipped with the new chips.

(by pc world)

all i was saying is that the new intel chip can outpace the high end amd chip, please dont say its not understandable because a mentally il person would understand this!
