i have looked. i have not found a guide on these files. ps2 game downloaded with torrent. i go to it when it is done and there is a bunch of those .001 and .002 files all the way up. so anyway i assume to extract the first file just like in a .rar but the only program that will extract them is 7-zip. so i have tryed to xtract this first file and i allways get an error. i thought maybe it was a bad game, but i have had this problem with 3 games now. the error is : crc failed in "blah blah .iso" FIle is broken . so what is up with that. am i doing something wrong or is there another program to use? is there a simple way or do i have to use cdvdgen and isobuster. i am not very good at useing them. thank you for your time

and let me say, NO i don't think they are .rar files. i have WinRAR and they do not show up as .rar files. i think i cannot extract them because they have been extracted. they need to be put into an .iso i think. i even went though the process of adding all the files to a .rar and then extracting it hoping for a .iso, but no it just went back to a bunch of files.

have you tries right clicking on the first file,and opening it with winrar
just because the icon is not showing as the WinRAR icon,doesnt mean they are not WinRAR archives
and while your at it go here in winrar

options/settings/intergration make sure the iso tab is unticked

You are giving much information on the files... where did you download it from, what's the name of the game, and a list of the files you have would be nice

I'm merely telling him that he should use the edit function, of course I could go around and report every thread/post that violates the rules, but its a lot faster to remind them that they've done something wrong. dzuldare isn't a newbie he'd know where to look for the forum rules and what he should do anyway :)

Thanks hursty :)

I've edited the post above if its really against the rules, although I still think its faster and easier to remind someone about the forum rules instead of reporting it, the only things I'd ever report are when someone tries to do something illegal here (e.g. selling copied games)

@dzuldare
Doing a search on .001 extension, there's about a million different types of files (as expected), but I guess hursty is right, try opening it with WinRAR, and if you can see something in there, I'm guessing you are probably missing the first .rar file or something? Still, answers to the questions I posted above would be helpful for us to help you solve the problem

i would go with what Hursty said. It there are a bunch of those, like 50 or so, then they may still be RAR files.
Try opening Winrar and trying a few different things to add one 001 file manually. Not all files i have seen can just be done with the
right click/extract function.
It may also be an HP Join type of file if it is not a RAR.
Those also come like that then you have to use the program to join all of those files together and they will make an ISO.

if you continue to get the "CRC failed" message then i would just get it from a different site because the one you have is currupt. I have had that happen to me (with Dukes Of Hazard-Xbox) even when the source i was getting it from i knew had a working copy, yet 4 of the files would not extract and gave me that message. so i had to get it from a different source

hi, well i know everyone is saying use WinRAR, but when you right click on a .rar file you get the option to extract. this however, lets just say it is extracted. now what? because when i right click on the first file i only get "ADD To arkive" which says it has allready been extracted. so i am not sure i want to extract anymore. 7-zip can extract further but it gives that error. so i assume just to somehow put all these files back together in a iso form. i know some of you have seen this before. i am not going to list the files. it goes from flie extention .001-.075 the game is shadow hearts 3 and i got it from www.gametorrents.com it is for ps2. i have run into 4 different methods when getting games online. the classic .bin .cue, the .rar where you just extract to get the .iso, the .mds and .mdf. and this .oo1 files. i must say that half of the games i get in .mdf form never work neither. .mds is a file that dvd decyripter likes however the .mdf file ussally does not go because it says: "error, single track image or some some bull" anyway.

Chill man, he's just trying to help.

@dzuldare
I can't seem to find the torrent in the link you said (http://www.gametorrents.com) I've just PM-ed you asking for the torrent (can't leave my email address here), if you can send it to me then I'll be able to have a look at what files there are in the torrent and hopefully give you more information on how to open it :)

reefbreak,
let me let you in on a little secret newbie
Hursty did not get to be a Afterdawn Addict around here by sitting here arguing with people. He did it by spending years here helping out noobs like you with their problems. And even me when i first came onto the scene. And still knows far more than i do and helps me when i need it.
If you don't have any answer to the question asked,
then don't post anything!

that program hpspit is a neat little progam however, it just put all the files together into one file. that one file is not burnable. it is just a bigger file that i can't do anything with.

@dzuldare
Got your PM thanks. Had a look at the torrent, and I searched for this torrent on http://www.torrentspy.com, and looked at the discussions they have there... I still reckon WinRAR might be your answer?

because when i right click on the first file i only get "ADD To arkive" which says it has allready been extracted.
Try this:
1) Open winrar
2) Open file (or whatever its called, I don't have WinRAR with me here :( )
3) Select the first file, in this case e-shfnw.001, and click open (or OK)

You should be able to open the file with WinRAR using that method. If you can do that, then I'm guessing you can probably just extract the file somewhere and hopefully it'll be a DVD image (could be any format - ISO, mds, bin/cue, etc etc)

The problem that you can right click on the file and tell it to extract with WinRAR is because WinRAR thinks that for a proper set of rar files, the first file should be .rar ...

winrar wants nothing to do with it. if i click on a .rar or anything that WinRAR wants to deal with it will come up. this one does not. a window pops up and asks what program i would like to use or to search the web for the apporpite program. so when i search the web it brings me to the microsoft page and says the program should be used with hjspit. however they are hardly ever right. there is nothing i can do with the file in WinRAR. i can't unpack it any further. all the files need to be packed up or something and hjsplit does it, but in the wrong way. it needs to somehow become a .iso. i don't know. i can't believe i am having such a problem. and i know how to use WinRAR. i have extracted many games. you click on the first file ussally labled part 01 or something and you extract. that gives you something to work with. but this. i don't know. i never seen these before and i know there are alot of people that deal with these. i can simply look at the torrent status and see how many people have downloaded it. unforchanetly i did not see a LEAVE COMMENTS. i guess i have to try to figure that out next so i can contact these people. i don't know why everyone has to use a different way of doing things. why can't all .iso files be just that. why these extra stupid steps. it ticks me off a bit. i will check in again if you have any other ideas.

You are not doing what I asked you to do... if you try what I suggested, you'll probably find that it works!
