DVD author only accepts MPG video files. If these are AVI or some other type of file, the video will need to be converted to MPEG-2 before you can author it.

First get the program "winrar" and extract the rar files and you will probably end up with an AVI file. Then get TMPGEnc,either 2.5 or 3.0 express or even TMPGEnc dvd source creator. Then convert the AVI to an mpeg.Look in the forums for guides for the ins and outs of the settings for converting to mpeg.then once you have your mpeg file then you can use the TMPGEnc dvd author to author the dvd from the mpeg to a folder which will be labeled VIDEO_TS that will contain a bunch of VOB files. The dvd author is for turning the mpeg file into a dvd compliant folder of files and for creating a menu and chapters in that folder also. Then if everything was done perfectly you can open the writing tool and burn that video_ts folder to disc.I am also very new to this but am learning fast with the help of these forums so if you have troubles first look into the forum for guides and faq's and also google. Then if you still are having trouble post your question and hopefully someone will help you.
