Apologies if this has been answered before. I obtained an NEC 3540A burner fairly recently, and it works great. However, I ran into some issues where I needed to set the booktype on some DVD+R discs to DVD-ROM, so I downloaded and installed the hacked firmware (Liggy's). That did the trick, but for some reason, it has taken away my option to burn at 2.4x. This is rather annoying, since I usually do a lot of "on the fly" copying from my laptop DVD drive to the burner, which is connected to my laptop via Firewire, and it's just a tad too fast at 4x.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the 2.4x speed back without reverting to the previous firmware? I always get nervous swapping firmware constantly...

Thanks for the help!

Sarge out.

What version of Liggy's firmware are you using? They may have an older version that will still allow for booktyping but include a slower burn speed without reverting back to an original firmware.

Sorry about that, been very busy this week. Apparently, I've got 1.03 RPC1. Is there a better version to try to use?

Thanks.

Here is a list of original and modified firmware from Liggy and Dee, I use 1.W9. It removes riplock, makes your drive region free and allows bitsetting. I don't know if a firmware update will cure your problems, but it's always a good idea to keep your firmware updated.

Yup, that did the trick. Everything is working great, and I didn't fry my drive. :)

Thanks!
