I have a growing collection of home produced DVDs, mostly copies of home videos. They were burnt using a standalone DVD Recorder and are all Video_TS directory formats.

All I want is a SIMPLE program that will allow me to rip out small clips to save as mpeg or avi so that I can share with others on streaming sites or on websites.

I keep trialling software but can't find any that complete this task easily. I want to be able to see the DVD, click "start ripping" and when I reach the point I want to stop, click "stop ripping" ....... at which point, it creates an avi or mpg file.

Surely something out there must do that with ease but what ?!!!

Any recommendations would be really appreciated as I'm starting to lose it !!!

Well I dont think there is any free software that does this, if there is I doubt its very good. And i dont think there is any software that lets you rip to a certain point and click stop. You can try ImTOO DVD Ripper, I know it rips DVDs to AVI, MPEG, and VCD. You can try that, you can probably get it torrent or your gonna have to pay for it. But what i reccomend is that you download DVD shrink, rip the dvd and then convert the parts that you want to avi using WinAVI which is fast and easy to use. Because ripping a dvd from your DVD drive to an AVI or any other video file thats not dvd will take hours, and you dont want to put all that stress on your drive, so rip the dvd to your hard drive and then convert it to your prefferd video format using WinAVI. Thats what I do and it works great.
