May not need a new burner.
1st thing to check - what media are you using and burn speed? Can be the biggest cause of the this cause.
Let's start with that.
You can also post your last Nero log located at:
For Nero 6: program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory.txt
For Nero 7: program files>nero>nero7>core>nerohisotry.txt

1st thing let's edit out that serial # - listed 2x in your log - begins w/ 1A22. Don't need someone else getting ahold of it!

Oh my you have 95% of your memory in use! So no multitasking and shut any unnecessary processes. Run a system defrag if you haven't recently.

No A list manufacturer here. Those would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell. What other brands have you tried?

InCD can sometimes cause problems. Uninstall it and run the InCD clean tool. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html

You're burning at the max speed for -R discs on your drive. Take it down to 4x until you get some better media. Then try 6x or 8x and see how things go.
Let us know how it goes - good, bad or otherwise!

you are attempting to burn to the outer edge where the dye is most uneven, try reconfiguring that part in options to burn to around 4300 meg

Hi ian
To edit your post look to the right (on the same line as the date & time of the post). You will see ehat looks like a pencil & paper. Click that one to edit out the serial #'s.

Unisntall InCD from add or remove programs then run the clean tool like guyrus posted. Let's not install it again.
Then try the other suggestions above (free up memory, reduce target size, better media etc).
Try those and post back on how it goes!

I would have to say since you have tried several things that your burner is on it's way to the big burning place in the sky. Try another burner if you can get one in your computer and see if that works and then you will know if yours is 10-7 a police term for OUT OF SERVICE.....Good luck...

Hi everyone ,thanks for your help , so far i've uninstalled Incd and used the INCD cleanup program then installed the updated version from Nero. Still no go .
I've had alot of sucess with TDK disc's but then tried some Phillips disc's and then started to have problem's , so i then swapped to BENQ disc's which worked ok for a little while and now it won't burn on either cd or dvd

Hi ianmarr
Okay - let's post this last log form Nero and we can take it from there. The brands you've tried are not the best - they use some poorer quality manufacturer's. Again this can be a cause for the power calibration error. The ones listed above would be better.
So let's take a look at the new log and we'll go from there.
