Well I copied and pasted the RunUMD files into my PSP/Game drive, also put in the X folder into my root menu, pressed 'O' to install whatever it was that it wanted to install...
and on the top it now says "File Extract Error" in red, and at the bottom says
XXWAIT: Creating MS0:/x/Flash1 DISKOK, EXTRACTING

Its been like this for a good 5 minutes or so. Is it safe to turn off my PSP? Pressing HOME does nothing and its just been sitting there for quite some time so I'm getting worried.
Will this likely brick my PSP?
(btw i'm running version 1.50)
Much appreciated.

Yes, you can turn off your PSP and reboot it.
Run UMD can't brick your PSP if its life depended on it.

It is OK to turn off your PSP, it will not brick. Just hold down the power button for 10 seconds.

Ok DO NOT press O, you will have to download the X folder again (from here: http://eternal-psp.vze.com/dl.htm ) as when you press O it overwrites it. This time, when you start RunUMD press X

Hope this helped,

aaahhhhhhhh (sigh of relief). Sure didn't brick my system. Wow that was frightening.

So now that I have both of those on my PSP, how can I get "Monster Hunter" working? I have MPH 2.0, UMD Emulator, Fastloader..
I've gotten Daxter, Megaman Powered Up, Megaman Maverick Hunter: X working, and many older games.
Unfortunately this one's giving me some attitude, so any suggestions?

According to PSP-Hacks Compatibility list it works with:
Quote:
UMD Emulator/DAXZISO/RunUMD mod
You will have to use a fix, download it and find instructions from here:

Okay that seems like a useful site, thanks. Aparently I can patch the ISO with the most recent version of UMDGen 3.01, but I read the readme, and that website, and it doesnt exactly say how. Does this involve the ppf? If so where can I get that file? If not, how exactly do i patch the ISO with UMDGEN? Thanks

Download the ppf patch from the link to ps2nfo I gave you. Extract the archive to find a .ppf file

Download UMDGen from http://www.umdgen.com

Extract the archive and open up UMD Gen

Go to File-->Open and select your ISO.
Go to Tools-->Apply PPF Patch
Choose the ppf patch you extracted before and press OK

OK I patched the ISO as you instructed, thanks. Unfortunately whenever I open run UMD emulator to emulate the iso, and then go into RunUMD it just says PATCHER FAILED in red, then lists the name, and the creator underneath. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot

Do not open RunUMD, open UMD Emulator RunUMD edition (download from here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/427 ).

Then start it with the "load RunUMD" option.

Okay thanks for that new program, I erased my other version of UMDEmulator. Strangely if I just copy and paste it into my folder I can run the program, but the bottom of the screen has strange static, and the rest of it lacks any real visuals...hard to describe really.
Are there any settings on this page that should be altered from the original? EDIT: I've also tried the KXploit tool, but I didn't get any results from that, which way is suggested for this program?

Running the UMD from this brings me back to the PSP home, and from there I can see that it emulates the UMD. If i try to load it from the UMD icon, it gives me an error (like it does for most recent games). If I try RUNUMD though it brings me to a strange colorful loading screen, and then shuts off.

Jeez I've been a pain, but I appreciate all of your help, I think we should be pretty close to having this up and fully running. Thanks again.

The static is normal, that happens to me too, just press X.

So what happens after you press X? Does it crash?

Well after I load the game it returns to the root menu. If i try to load it just by reading the UMD I get an error. If I use RUNUMD it begins to load the game with this loading screen that looks like a map, but then shuts off after about 15 seconds. Sorry for the slow response to this one.
EDIT: I have both the european, and US releases by the way, in case one works easier.

apologies for bumping, but this post is about to sink to the third page, and I unfortnately cannot get this to work properly. So if someone out there has gotten this iso to run, could you discuss how you went about doing it? Thank you.

I just got MHF US version to work with DAXZISO, what I did was use umdgen and save as dax after I dump it. Then replace the x folder with a new one, and then I use one of the runumd option on the dax. Whether it was system, loadexe or direct. I got the game to work! But it freezes about 5 seconds into the game. I was wondering what I could do ? I'm trying to get the EURO version right now, I heard its easier than the US. If anything I want to get the US version to work so I can co-op with my buddy and let him borrow my umd.

Hi, I am struggling to make this work. I've tried every possible way that has been mentioned here but I get nothing.

This is the steps that i did...

- Applied ppf file to the iso using UMDGEN
- Placed the UMDEMULATOR(the one with runUMD) and the X folder in the root of my memstick.
- Placed the "UMDE~1%" and "UMDE" folders in PSP\GAME.
- Placed the ISO file in the ISO folder

then I ran UMD Emulator in the PSP and changed it to load runUMD rather than system menu. Then i selected "Monster Hunter Freedom.iso" and pushed "X button". Then the screen goes all fuzzy and funny colours with the runUMD prompt. So I pressed "O button" then waited til I am supposed to press the "x button" which i did. After pressing X, the memory stick orange light on the left side of the psp stays on (no blinks no nothing). Then after 5-10 seconds it crashes.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Hey! Had the same problem just got it working. What I did was this.

1. Opened my iso in UMDGen.

2. Applied the .ppf patch from the file located here using UMDGen http://www.ps2nfo.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&file=viewarticle...

3.Saved the iso as a .dax instead of a .iso

4. Placed the x directory from the .rar file I mentioned earlier in the main drive of the MS

5. Downloaded and installed DAX ZISO http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/498

6. Placed the .dax file saved earlier into the ISO folder on the PSP

7. Start up DAX ZISO on the psp and change the options to run from runUMD Direct mode.

8. Start up the .iso.dax file

If you have any questions reply
I'd love to hear from you if my method worked!

thanks for that, but it didn't really help, I tink the problem was with my ISO. I obtained a different ISO which was already in DAX format, so it's all good now, thanks.

So i have ripped my own UMD. I applied the patch in UMDGEN. I then tried saving it as an iso.dax within umdgen and saving it as an iso then changing it to .dax with dax. I can emulate the umd with daxziso -> runUMD system. Then when i run the umd i get the "now loading" animation which freezes 5 seconds in. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have pretty much followed everything else to a T.

Thanks,
P

Which game are you trying to run?

Are you sure you have the X folder in the root of your memory stick?

Also try the new DevHook Loader, that might work.

For those of you having problems with the loading screen, it is because you have the american iso of the game but are using the europeon ppf. There is an american ppf at http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4738. Do everything else as described above but attach this .ppf instead of the other one and you should get it to work. Let me know how it helped. :)

Alright... nothing else seems to be working so i gave this a shot... so far everything is fine except for the fact that in your link to daxiso that version doesnt come with a runumd.pbp so im wondering where i can get that...

also... with the other version using umdemulator with umdrun... im running everything fine and im running the USA ISO (with the proper ppf) but still no luck i get the static with the disclaimer and i press x to simply get a load error (outlined in a red box)

any solutions to this ? plz i need help ASAP as im on a plane in 2 days... thanks for all this
