anybody have any opinions on nero 6 and nero 7? I've had nero 6 for many years, and it's worked excellent! And I've let this nero 7 settle out here for 8 months and I'm curious now, is it a good upgrade? Do I need it? Whatsha think? Should I jump into this version 7? *thanxz*

Alot of people still use Nero 6, I'd be tempted to say most. I use Nero 7 and have had no problems with it, some have. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you are having a good experience with 6 then don't let 7 change your mind about Nero.

No problem, personally I wouldn't waste the money if 6 is working for you. I started with 7 and use it almost exclusively, so I can't really comment on 6, all I know is what I see here on the forum and alot people still use 6.

I used Nero6 up until Nero7 was released. Some versions of both contain a lot of bugs however since switching to Nero7 I have been happy with my results. If you are going to purchase a version I would recommend Nero7, however steer clear of their latest versions
7.2.0.3 and 7.2.0.3b...they are "shockers" go for version 7.0.8.2, a very stable version, you can get it from here.
http://www.filehippo.com click on Nero 7.2.0.3 and then select 7.0.8.2 for a bug free version

Hi Gwendolin
I tried the download you suggested (7.0.8.2 from http://www.filehippo.com). Firstly it insisted on uninstalling my fully licensed copy of Nero 6, followed by three re-boots as it removed each module. Then it would not install version 7, saying that the demo version had expired.
Any suggestions would be gratefuly received.
Best wishes
Graham

I am glad to see this thread. My Nero 6 is too slow in Make Your Own DVD Video mode. It takes 8-10 hours when I add VOB files and make disc. I am thinking about Nero 7 upgrade. Does Nero 7 have the same problem?
Thanks in advance,
samvan

Just to add that i've been using Ver 6 for a while now, and so far, it has worked wonders.(This version mainly - 6.6.0.18)
A few months ago i had a reformat and installed Nero 7 Premium Edition. I found nothing new worth having and because it was a buggy version as well,(7.0.0.0) i ended up re-installing my old sweet ver 6... Had i got the 'clean' ver 7.0.8.2, i probably would have kept it.
So bottom line is: If you have ver 6 and it works fine, don't bother upgrading. If you don't have Nero installed, then by all means, go for ver 7...
[edit] WTF?

Are you talking NVE? It will always take a couple of hours, but that really depends on the grunt of your machine. Slower pc's will drag like hell, the slowest i ever had was about 3.5 hours... But i was doing a few downloads at the time so i was multitasking. I normally don't take more than 2 hours. Close everything in the background, net and anti-virus included and try again. That could very well be the reason.

Thanks, Gwendolin, for the speedy reply. I will try your suggestion tomorrow. But I don't think that Nero allows a free upgrade from 6 to 7. The download of 7.0.8.2 from http://www.filehippo.com contains an embedded serial number which I assumed was a demo serial number so I used that, but it had expired.
Some of the advice in this thread seems to be saying that version 6 is pretty much as good as version 7. Since I have a fully licensed copy of version 6, I may be better to stick with that.
Regards
Graham
