Yeah, im a big noob when it comes to burning... only thing ive ever done was music cd's for the car with an ancient version of Nero, and some ISO mounting with Alcohol 120%.

So anyway, down to business... I got LOADS of movies in .avi, you know the regular size 700-800 that'll fit on the cd's which I happen to have about 100 of lying around. I wanna combine!

I tried burning a regular data cd with Nero, with the .avi and subtitles, and even with only the .avi, and my dvd player is unable to recognize any of em... Also tried to use some feature in Nero which seemed to be the right one for writing movies that can be read by dvd players, but it ended up at almost 1100mb after encoding!
Thats too much for my poor little cd's!

So, is there any hope for me? Been scouting forums but havent been able to find anything concrete about it, most threads are about burning dvds... can I use some sort of encoding to keep it at its current low size? Can I do it with/without subtitles and is it even possible in any way with any program?

Hope you can help a poor clueless noob :)

Best regards
DJeff

A DivX/XviD DVD player is needed to play AVI videos. A regular DVD player won't recognize AVI videos.

If you want to make a VCD/SVCD, then the video needs to be spread over two CD's. Putting an entire movie in MPEG1/2 on one CD, will give you low to horrible quality.

With so many AVI's you'd probably be better off buying a DivX/XviD DVD player, which are quite cheap nowadays. If you have a DVD burner, you can put 6 of those 700MB AVI's on one DVD-R (burn as data). This way you can keep good quality and it saves you probably a few weeks of encoding.
