Just a suggestion. I use to have problems with Nero and my laptop burner (Compaq R3320ca). The burns appeared to work fine as per Nero but on playback on any device it was a Coaster. Problem was that Nero didn't seem to be able to control the burn speed and keep it to within the limits of the burner which was at that time only a 2X's (sony). The software would go by the speed that the media was rated at and not by the hardware rating. Even when I updated the aspi drivers and tried to override the burn speed in Nero. In desperation I switched to CD BURNER XP pro which is free on the internet and is add free as well. Now when I override the burning speed it actally works. I have since replaced my burner with a NEX 8X DVD+/- but still use CD Burner XP Pro which uses Windows SPTI instead of ASPI. Very few coasters now. (Only when I screw up)

I was just passing on my experience with a simillar problem. Still might be valid for someone who is having a simillar problem but the harddrive is OK. As I stated - it was burner hardware speed control that was letting me down with Nero. When I switched to a burner software that used SPTI it went away. Nero always reported a good burn regardless of the end result even with the latest aspi's installed. And yes I just took a quick scan and didn't notice his update. Damm these bi-focals.
