Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with this problem.
I have been using Nero 7 for months to convert video files into VOB (I burn the DVD with DVD-Lab which gives the opportunity of making wonderful and easy menus).

It is been a month that Nero 7 won't work. It opens the Smart page, but when I click on Nero Vision (and other programs too) Windows XP SP2 shuts the PC down and I don't understand why. I read through this pages and tried it all (downloaded the last version of Nero 7, cleaned my PC and installed the 7.2 version), but nothing.

A couple of times I managed to go through Nero Vision, but in the middle of the conversion it got stuck.

If you don't know how to help me, can you tell me if there is another good program that converts video files into VOB (I really like working with VOB instead of VIDEO and AUDIO files).

This latest version of Nero is full of bugs, I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 a more stable version from here
http://www.filehippo.com click on Nero 7.2.0.3 and then select 7.0.8.2 for a bug free version

I had already done that, but it didn't help. Still Nero crashes everything.

Post your Nero log file so we can take a look and see what's happening, log file located here
Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

I even used Search to find the history, but there is no such a file. It might depend on the fact that the computer shuts down thus Nero has no time to make a log.
I retried and now Nero Vision opened 3 times in a row. I will try to convert an AVI file. In the past weeks when I managed to open it and sarted converting it in the middle of conversion it froze (time kept going on, but conversion was not going on).

It will take all night so I will post tomorrow the result of it. Thank you for your help so far... I got the feeling that it might be my OS messing up. A couple of times when it restarted and checked the HD it found consistency problems, tho I uninstalled Nero, Defrag and reinstalled it 3 times thus there is no way Nero ended up in the bad sectors (if there is any at all) 3 times in a row.

Well this is weird LOL. After 1 month of Nero not working I finally write a post in here to seek for help and now Nero works :O

Hopefully it won't stop working again...Nero is too important to me hee hee.

Never mind, Nero won't finish the job. After 2 hours it all gets stuck, the only thing working is the elapsed time counting.

No history file present. I deleted Nero, I will try to see online if there is another program that converts AVI into VOB.
