i usually use DVD-R for backing up movies because thats the only thing that works on my dvd-player. Im out of those right now, and i used those for PS2 backups as well. Since dvd+r dont work for my DVD n i didnt know that at one point, i have like 40 of them sitting around. Does it matter if its + or - when it comes to PS2 backups??

Ok well heres how it works, if your burner can booktype +r's use them and bookytpe them to DVD-Rom, if not use -R for PS2. I have a NEC burner and I had to download the modified firmware for it to booktype, so you might have to do that depending on the burner. My burner can booktype but I still use Taiyo Yuden 8x -R's. Because they run like butter on my PS2. Search the forums for a tutorial on booktyping you'll find it. So there really isnt a better one. Just dont use plain +R's on your PS2 they have to be booktyped or you'll PS2 laser will get stressed or have problems reading it.

To set booktype on DVD decrpypter , and make sure its set at mode/iso/write make sure you have the iso ready to burn, make sure the media is in the drive. Then next to the settings where you pick your write speed there is a pic of a book, thats where you change it. In nero go to Recorder/choose recorder, options and click booktype to dvd-rom. If you get an error that means your burner doesnt support it. Make sure firmware is updated.

Later versions of the ps2 support +r fully and most quality disc work like a charm, no stressing laser etc if burned properly.

really it all depends on what your PS2 or DVD player can play.
I have always used 8X DVD-R myself. Some brands of +R like Verbatim worked fine too, but others like TDK did not work well at all.
PS2 lasers can be funny that way. Booktyping like mentioned above is a great idea and will give you a better chance of the +R working.
